Simply the best
THis is quite simply the best book available on Australia's enigma....the Echidna. Peegy and Mike have collaborated brilliantly with mind boggling field work, awesome observation and stunning photographs all being brought together in a format which is immensely readable. Many books that try to fill this biology niche drone on endlessly with obscure data which simply turns readers off. Peggy and Mike are both brilliant communicators and have given us a book which brings the very best of research over endless years in the field .....and feed it to us in a wonderfully accessable way. It is a delight for the eye....for the mind and importantly for the heart....for it is in understanding creatures that we learn to cherish them. And after all this book at its heart is an elegant and beautiful plea for Echidnas and their place in our world.

Very pleased
I was very pleased to get a copy of this book as it is now out of print. The book was a good price and as described - in excellent condition, well packed and arrived on or before the date advised. I have these little guys on my property on Kangaroo Island and now have a great informative resource. Echidnas were around at the time of the dinosaurs. Fossils have been found dating back 120 million years. See [β¦]

Something for everyone
I was interested in reading about the Echidna after reading another fascinating one about the Platypus. At 120 pages, I was worried that this book would be on a juvenile level. Actually, it is written in a way that can be enjoyed by everyone from interested middle school scholars to mature individuals with substantial knowledge of science and an interest in learning more about a fascinating mammal. Well written, very interesting, and highly recommended.

Beautifully written and illustrated
I highly recommend this book to any animal-lover, specially if you want to learn more about these unique mammals. I am a biologist and can asure you it is very hard to find such amount of information on echidnas as you will here. Besides it is very well written, which makes the reading interesting yet easy to follow; and the pictures are awesome. I highly recommend it.
