Golden Sun & Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age (Prima's Official Strategy Guide)

I wanted this guide as complete/mint copies of these gameboy RPG titles, including the manuals (and map in the case of the first game), were quite expensive. I have used few published game guides in the past and played only one early RPG, so I can only judge this book in terms of how it has helped me progress so far.The guide is well layed out, and nicely illustrated. The screen shots are well arranged to speed you on your way through the dungeons. Above ground you are on your own. The world map from the first game was, sadly, not reproduced. The introductory notes on play are useful, though I had hoped for some greater insight into some of the more complex elements of magic use.The style and tone of the guide are friendly. The amount of detail is nicely balanced. Bosses are analysed, many puzzles are clearly explained, but it is more of a hints book than a step by step walkthrough. It has aided my play and re-assured me that I am on track without givng too much away. It helped avoid missing the less obvious collectibles or wasting time on items that you can only come back for later.NB: As the 2nd game can employ a save file from the 1st, it may be beneficial to be thorough.I am very happy with the approach of this guide. For those like me who lack the time, patience or background to crack these adorable RPGs on their own, I think it is a valuable companion.

This guide is a huge help. There is so much to do in Golden Sun and Golden Sun 2. Without the guide you could easily get lost. There are some online guides but some of them aren't very good and I really like having a hard copy right in front of me when I play. The only thing that I don't like is that the guide tells you where you're supposed to go next but often it doesn't tell you what direction to head in when going to the next area. To overcome that pay attention to what people tell you when you talk to them in the game. Other than that, this player's guide is a must for anyone who really wants to do it all in these two great games.

Two of my most favorite games of all time. Glad that it comes in a two game guide. Even though the guide is several years old, It is still in great condition.

The pictures and diagrams are very useful. Sometimes the text can be a little confusing because parts of an explanation are spread out over several areas of the text, and it's a struggle to put the whole explanation all together. Overall, a very useful manual.

Golden Sun is without a doubt one of the greatest RPGs on a handheld system, if not the greatest, and this is the perfect guide for the game. Aside from a few errors here and there, which may or may not have been limited to my own copy, it is fantastic. A must have for any fan of the series.

it is a big help in expanding on the game experience by helping to find all the hard to find items, figuring out all the tricky puzzles and what not within the games.
