Programs itself. Then pays for itself. Meet the 3rd gen Nest Learning Thermostat. It has new rings and a big, sharp display. And it saves energy. That's the most beautiful part. The Nest Learning Thermostat programs itself. It helps save energy. You can control it from anywhere with the Nest app. And with a Nest Temperature Sensor, you can get the right temperature, right where you want it. (Sold separately.) Your thermostat controls half your energy bill - more than appliances, more than electronics. So shouldn't it help you save energy? The Nest Learning Thermostat is the first thermostat to get ENERGY STAR certified. It learns what temperature you like and builds a schedule around yours. Since 2011, the Nest Thermostat has saved billions of kWh of energy in millions of homes worldwide. And independent studies showed that it saved people an average of 10% to 12% on heating bills and 15% on cooling bills. So in under two years, it can pay for itself. See how much you saved. Nest shows you how much energy you use every day in Energy History and every month in your Home Report. So you can see when you use more energy, like on weekends or Monday nights, and how to use less. Follow the Leaf. Change the temperature to save energy and you'll be rewarded with a Leaf. The Leaf learns how to help you save, so it appears at different temperatures for different families.Meet the Nest Temperature Sensor. Most homes aren't the same temperature in every room. With the Nest Temperature Sensor, you can let your Nest thermostat know which room should be a certain temperature at a certain time of day. Just put it on a wall or shelf in a room that matters most, like the living room or baby's room. And get the right temperature, right where you want it. (Sold separately.)

Not a true plug and play well with others product.
The seller as usual sent the product promptly and it arrived in good condition on time. I installed ours in a very reasonable amount of time, but The products application and set up isn’t precise as to how the learning goes on. Their app’s editing capabilities of the scheduler coupled with a lack of what the relationship of scheduling to learning of Nest are VERY lack luster. I have an AmazonEcho Plus which again the lack of reasonable documentation made the connection more troublesome than it should be. The jury is out on how the Nest’s learning will bless our reasons for purchase is still out but I think it’s promising. I’m looking forward to more smart home purchases. At the moment we’ve decided to purchase several smart home components in a move to better understand what building our new home to take greatest advantage of these tehnologies an be.

So Far, So Great!
We ordered two of these, one for each end of the house. My husband took over the "training" of them, so it must be easy. Each night he turned both of them to 70 for sleeping, and he was diligent about turning it back up to 74 for the day the next morning. This went on for about 2 days and we noticed that it was happening automatically! Exactly what we wanted. We have not hooked it up to Echo yet, but we will. It also looks really cool on the wall. The display is dark until you walk past it, and it shows you the current temperature and how long it will be to get to the new temp if you've changed it. It has all kinds of bells and whistles if you're so inclined. So far, so great!

Needs More Control
This is a great piece of technology. I like the features and only wish it had the ability to control scheduling with more detail. For example I went to the office all last week from 9-5 turning the temp to 80 when I left. This week I worked from home several days and found 11am was very warm. The system, despite having the location Svc son, set temp at 80. System should have known I was home. I turned off ECO the first day... happened again so I had to clear the schedule for the past week manually. My dog likely was uncomfortable with the system auto adjusting to 80 degrees, too. Overall I like it but would have looked for different features if I had known this prior to purchasing,

Very easy in install / setup
I bought three of these thermostats for our house and was able to install each of them quickly, easily and without any hassle. I was impressed with the intuitive controls and iPhone app guidance. Even the nest.com support website (optional, not needed) provided great print-screens and videos to help if you needed extra installation support. I have Gas forced hot-water baseboard and forced air central air conditioning in our home. We had no issues and we love the ability to check & change the temp of our home while we're away!

Be careful. I didn't get a Google mini with my purchase.
Installed 2 times. First time asked for help from nest rep. He confirmed they were compatible with my heat/air. Fried my circut board during test. 🥓🍳 Had to replace. Exspensive. Hired someone to come to my house and install for me. Was somewhat difficult to install. But they now actually work. What a pain this all was. Who should pay for the new circut board? Seller never responded. And... I never did get the google mini that is supposed to be included. Let down.

Don’t buy this product; it’s poor quality and the 1 year warranty is a lie
Would not recommend this at all. After 8 months it stopped working. After spending several hours on the phone to try to troubleshoot it, who were in fact very helpful, it still did not work while it was 100 degrees outside and a very angry pregnant wife. I had to get a new thermostat and couldn’t wait any more, so I assumed that the advertised 1 year warranty would cover a refund for a defective product. This was the most disappointing matter of the whole ordeal. Not only would Google not stand behind its warranty and provide a refund, they wouldn’t even replace the whole unit. The techs have n the phone determined that it was most likely the base plate, so that is all they would replace. And I guess they expect me to spend multiple more hours troubleshooting it as they send me piecemeal replacement parts. I expected more from google. I replaced it with an Alexa Ecobee which I have found to be a much better product, AND it has a build in Alexa.

Thermostat
I had my THERMOSTAT replaced (2 of them) which was in the house since 2005 and did not work all that well over the years. Since replacing both of them the house heats more evenly than before. Just have to work on how to change the schedule since it will change itself if you do not keep an eye on it. But over all I really like mine.
