I have a 56CM bike, 42 handlebar width, electronic shifting, mid-cage derailleur. Bag was purchased April 2019 and I have flown with it 7 times, various airlines, international and domestic flights. Pro's: It is easy to pack, crazy easy to roll through airports and it's light which is the reason I shifted to a soft case vs the continued use of my 25 year old hard case.Cons: I need to take my rear derailleur off, there is not enough clearance to give me comfort that a good bang won't damage my derailleur. I have not had one flight where my shifters/hoods and handlebars were not bent to one side. Maybe the pro teams get their bikes handle with TLC but I sure don't. After every flight I dread opening the bag to see how bad the hoods and handle bars are banged up. On the last flight I took the handle bars off and added on old handle bar, no shifters. Upon arrival the handle bars were twisted to the left as the stem was twisted from impact. I am not engineer but I can't but think that all of this twisting from impact is not good for the components on the bike. So, I am taking my derailleur off, taking my handlebars off, adding on old handle bar and still the bike gets banged up. I met a number of other riders while waiting for my bike at various airports who have the same bag and are doing the same things I am to compensate for the poor design. They seem OK with it but I can't help but wonder why buy a bag whose purported features don't work.
