Since 2004, This Will Destroy You has been forging some of the world's most brutal, dynamic, and precariously visceral instrumental rock. In addition to a vigorous tour schedule, their celebrated discography and critically renowned soundtrack work for feature films and documentaries have earned them a sizable and fervent international following. Another Language, TWDY's fourth full length LP, marks their euphonious return from a prolonged vacuous dark period that threatened to break both the band and the members themselves.

As Expected
Love these guys and all the material they put out. This cd is no different, great stuff.

A relief after previous devastation.
So. I debated a long time about this one. I considered their previous effort, ' Tunnel Blanket ,' once. Then I considered it again. I remembered the disappointment and the longing for something more than they provided then. As as evident from my review of that album, I felt like it was more a frantic lashing out than an actual product of musical artistry. I tried time and time again and failed to achieve a proper footing in it. But I bit the bullet with this one and I am glad that I did. There is a chasm that the band created between fans with 'Tunnel Blanket.' There were some who greeted it with a welcome embrace--sometimes to the point of lavish praise--while others were left wondering what they were listening to. However, with this new release of 'Another Language,' it seems as thought the band have picked themselves up out of the muck that muddied their vision and meshed what did work from that Blanket with a bit of refinement. This album mixes ambiance with grit very effectively. With that said, fans of the Blanketed version of This Will Destroy You will get their fix along with the fans of previous work in the more light-hearted vein. We have the delightful crunch of distortion throughout the whole of the record with necessary ambient rests. This album has much more depth with beautifully layered soundscapes. Instead of a drunken rage we have a controlled and delicate riot of sound calmed with with the innocent balm of piano and electronic drones. There is much more variety here than 'Tunnel Blanket,' and I must say that I enjoy the shift. The four stars is a good thing. It's in comparison to the likes of ' This Will Destroy You .' I feel like I can finally appreciate these guys again. It even made me hope they tour near me again for a chance to hear this music live. This is a fine effort and a fine evolution. Most should be pleased.

Emotional and moving masterpiece of an album
I bought 'Another Language' soon after its release and have listened to it dozens and dozens of time since then. I've listened to it while driving in the car, at home in the morning, at work and on and on. It's one of those albums that has worked its way into that category of albums that most avid music fans have - albums that we can't imagine not having in our lives. That's how strongly how I feel about this one. This album can be best described as a perfect blend of post-rock and ambient. What I hear primarily are keyboards and guitar that are seamlessly blended together and almost indistinguishable much of the time paired up with more traditional drums that provide some rhythm and weight here and there. The mood is mostly tranquil and meditative, but there are a few little climactic moments throughout.

Post rock album of the year
This Will Destroy you has churned out 2014's post rock album of the year, adding elements of shoegaze and metal to their dynamic instrumental sound.Although it should be noted that this is NOT on Secretly Canadian at all. They're on Suicide Squeeze. You can see it on the picture of the back of the package. Get it together, Amazon.

It's a winner .
This is a great album . A big turn from " Tunnel Blanket" which is one of their darker albums . Very much like a mix of the first two albums .. Highly recommended .

Top of the bunch
Every time I listen to this record, I feel like I need to take a nap afterwards. This is about as intense as you can get.

Classic
More of a return to S/T, but with a slightly noisier and heavier bent. Awesome album from an amazing band.
