Q: Is additional add-on needed for ssd m2 nvme(perhaps m2x)? what key does it support? is it support m2 sata ssd or just nvme ssd?

I've owned a vim4 for a year, and yes, you could plug an m2 directly into the slot on the back of the vim4. The problem is the direction of the m.2 port, if you plug a drive into it, it will extend outward from the board. Using the Khadas M2X Extension (~$10), it allows for the addition of an m.2 drive, and it will be tucked under the board. I used a Samsung Evo 970 in slot on the back of the vim4, then moved it to the port on the extension device.

Q: Can multiple units be stacked with the heatsinks attached?

As they have a heatsink and fan, I would think that as long as you have air flow you should not have a problem.

The original FPC cable is not compatible with VIM4; current DIY Case is not compatible with VIM4 due to the HDMI IN interface. We are working on DIY Case 2 for VIM4. Incompatible Accessories: DIY Case (HDMI IN won't work with this case) IR Remote (VIM4 doesn't have IR Receiver) M2X Extension (PoE can only supply power. No Ethernet Data Transfer on VIM4) USB-C adapter and cable sold separately.
