Reinvigorate Your Style With Great Fashion Formulas & Photo Illustrations - Trendy, Classic and Creative!
Let Refinery29 reinvigorate your style! This energetic style guide is jam-packed with hundreds of ideas and colorful illustrative photos of fashion savvy everyday women on the streets of New York City metro area. Also, has shots focused on style details, like shoes and accessories. It's organized by style themes, such as "Denim", "Mixed Prints", "Tomboy", "Lady-Like" and then for each presents the same formula for putting different looks together, in order: Basic Training, Style Moves, 1 Piece-3 Ways, Rule Breakers, Year-Round, Q&A and Zoom Lens. While most of the looks are pretty youthful, this guide has style ideas women of every age can learn from. I am a middle-aged woman, flat-heeled and suffering from style menopause. However, the advantage of having clothes-shopped for decades, is possessing a hoard of rarely worn clothes and dusty accessories, even things now vintage. I post-noted many pages of Style Stalking and walked this book into my closet and to my drawers to help me shake up my wardrobe. You'd be amazed how many looks can be created from what one already owns! The book compels one to try new things. I have had a life long aversion to prints. The theme on "Mixed Prints" has really given me courage to zip up my style by adding bold print pieces and even mixing them up! Finally, I was wowed by the layout and page design of this book - it's clean, simple, and easy to follow with photos on practically every page, artfully mixed with text boxes and captions highlighting their pointers. I'll be stalkng Refinery29 - they should issue a guide like this every year! Grateful!

Recommended for women and girls who like to look cool!
Excellent book for creative dressing! I was not sure it was appropriate for a woman my age (65), but the more I got into it, the more I realized how much I could learn from the book, and still dress "age appropriate". Having said that, the authors do seem to want to release us from past notions about fashion! I also appreciated the fact the women in the photos were of all shapes and sizes, not just model types. All in all, I would definitely recommend this useful (and fun book)! One thing though..... I am sure I will never get used to the idea of mixing prints...... Not for me, but you might love it.

this book is super fun! great inspiration for anyone who ever feels like they're stuck in a clothing rut (all of us at some point, right?) or trying to hone in their personal style. I really like how it's divided into different sections like vintage, denim, print-mixing, all-black, tomboy and more because it feels really inclusive of all fashion personalities rather than being a strict "dress like this" guide with a narrow focus. and every photo is beautiful! it feels like an analog version of my street style Pinterest board but with notes telling me how to achieve the look in a way that will work for my personal style, with stuff I already have in my closet.dig it like a shovel! planning to give these out to all of my friends for holiday gifts.

I'm tired of the cookie cutter fashion of the suburbs where all that matters is a designer label. This book brought me back to my city girl roots where I shopped thrift stores and had my own personal sense of style. This book challenges you to experiment with pattern, texture and stretch your fashion sense in unconventional ways. I was able to remix a lot of what was in my closet to bring new outfits to life!! I appreciate the diverse women represented-- all ages, shapes and colors. I hope they release another book.

Do not buy this crumby book.
This is the worst book. I am sorry I have to say such a thing, but really the whole book is bad. The examples are ridiculous. I don't know why anyone would say they are finding any style advise from this. There are only one or two examples that look fashion forward and interesting. The rest, I have to agree with another review, look like bag lady get ups. Terrible. I know, but it is a lot like what odd pieces one might pull from a donation pile if you didn't have time to look through the pile. Sorry. No book is supposed to be a waste, but I could find very little if anything of value or interest in this one.

Real Style!
I have not yet been able to read the entire book, but what I've read and the pictures I've seen so far are great! I like that it shows real people with their own clothes, and how they style their own looks! Much more interesting to me than very commercial looking outfits. Even if you don't like all the looks, the photos are amazing!

So-so, OK, not bad - expected more
I was a bit disappointed in this book. It isn't as inspirational as say "Style Yourself" (an all time favourite) and none of the pictures had me raiding my closet to recreate similar looks. The copy is good though, and I learned a bit - but not enough to justify the price. Refinery's reputation raised my expectations more than this book could fulfil.

A pleasant read
A pleasant read but nothing special, to be honest I was a bit disappointed. It isn't as inspirational as I expected it to be.
