I would give 0 stars
Do to the nature of our business installing the printer took time. Can not get the printer to connect to our computer. After many calls with epson they determined that there is a software failure and needs repair. Closes repair center is hours away from us. We used the same model printer before and had no issues until it's life span was over. Now we are out of our return window and completely out of our money and hours and hours of time spent trying to rectify this issue

Fast, Easy, Great!
These work so great!Fast, easy to set up and use!I was worried because many people said they had trouble setting them up with Ethernet and as a network printer.Just by following the directions I was able to use the install CD and it worked great!

Great Printer, but Network Setup NOT simple.
Workhorse Printer. Love the quality. (TCP/IP) Network setup can be a bit of a pain, otherwise 5 stars. I am no network slouch; I have configured nationwide ip networks for fortune 100 corporations, I know how this stuff works. These printers are just tricky to set up with very little (English) documentation. Once done, it works great.

Also easy to load
Having purchased this model a week ago -- replacing a well-used and seamless USB T88IV -- I can speak as well to the difficulty of network setup as mentioned by others. We needed multi-user receipt printing for a web-based transaction system for library users.Beyond successful software installations -- and mysterious failings "printer not available" after initially printing the test page or failing to print after several hours of successful hours of operation, there's the interesting phenomenon of an attempted install on a couple of machines in which after selecting the 'easy install' or appropriate options under the standard install, and then clicking 'install' -- nothing happens. Click again. Nothing happens: no messaging, no installation, nothing. I find this inexplicable and suspect that most software/driver developers -- with the evident exception of Epson -- wouldn't allow a feature this flawed into release.I suspect a network card issue and will investigate firmware upgrades. However, as a multi-year multi-product Epson user, many less expensive than this receipt printer -- this level of flawed software development is inexplicable. I do understand that this is oft-intended as a POS device. On the positive side, when or if you get it printing it prints fast and efficiently. Also easy to load. So, in moving on we'd appreciate recommendations of ethernet receipt printer models that install and work well. This device is not cost-effective if beyond what would otherwise be a rather high purchase price it requires hours of employee time in getting it to work. We're not there yet.

If you're frustrated connecting to USB....
I found this video explaining how to enable USB. It's turned off out of the box. Works great after doing this. They don't allow links here but search online and you will find it. It's a somewhat complicated procedure if you don't know what you're doing but easy when explained.

Rock solid reliable
I've set a few of these up now, so that process is sweat for me now. A first time owner, or someone with a non-IT background could struggle with first time deployment. I use wired networking with static IP for all of our equipment, so once it's done, it's done.Good print quality with generic thermal paper, and the ability to upload a (properly formatted) logo to print at the top of the receipt is very nice.Certainly beats the old serial-interface dot matrix receipt printers that we used before this

Very difficult to set up
I give this printer 3 stars only because it works with Mac OS X, whereas most other receipt printers do not. Considering how easy most general-purpose printers are to set up, you'll find this one is surprisingly difficult. I purchased the model which has USB and Ethernet connection options, and neither one works right out of the box! You actually have to put the printer into its configuration mode and work through the menu options in order to enable built-in USB.For the ethernet option, it is even harder. The default IP address is 192.168.192.168, which is not a valid IP address on any small business network that I know of. So you must go to your router and change the submask setting to 255.255.0.0 so the printer can connect. Then (and only then) you can connect through the Epson network configuration utility and change the IP address to something more reasonable (like 192.168.0.nnn). So you actually have to disrupt your business by restarting the network, just to get a printer working!I didn't figure all this out myself, even though I have a lot of computer experience. I should credit two web sites that really helped me get going:[...]Finally, we use narrow paper in our business, but we aren't wedded to it. However, once you set the TM-T88V to use narrow paper, you can never reset it back to use wide paper. I can't imagine why the engineers at Epson thought that would be a good idea.I have owned many other Epson printers, including receipt printers, and never had so much difficulty before. Epson could have made this a lot easier just by changing the default configuration for the printer.
