Bat To The Future With Season Two!
With Season One, "Batman Beyond" had gained a new following of Batfans by successfully expanding the Batman mythos with the introduction of new, younger Dark Knight Terry McGinnis. The presence of old Bruce Wayne as mentor to the new hero for a new era not only provided the series with a linchpin, but also allowed the producers to do something new with the character, but still stay true to the Bruce Wayne/Batman legend. For Season Two, the series creators' intent, according to producer Bruce Timm, was to focus a little bit more on Terry and a little bit less on Bruce, believing [from focus groups they'd done with the series, and their own instincts] that the teenage kids watching the show were much more interested in Terry than in Bruce, given it was TERRY'S show now. To that end, Terry reluctantly gets his own confidante/sidekick in schoolmate Maxine "Max" Gibson (Cree Summer), a computer genius who stumbles upon his secret identity in "Hidden Agenda". "You call me Robin, and I'm outta here," Max warns. Terry coyly responds with "No problem...Alfred". To her credit, Max [at given times] proved to be quite useful to Terry: covering for him to girlfriend Dana, babysitting younger brother Matt, plus employing her technical skills. Also included in this set is "Once Burned" featuring the return of Melanie/Ten (Terry's own Selina Kyle/Catwoman) and the Royal Flush Gang; "Blood Sport", "Sneak Peek", and runaway robot "Zeta" which was spun-off into the short-lived series "The Zeta Project".Batman Beyond - Season Two is a 4-disc (544 min.) set featuring all 26 Season Two episodes; Full-Frame (1.33:1) video; English Dolby Digital Stereo audio; Spanish, French subtitles; plus extras.Disc One: Splicers, Earth Mover, Joyride, Lost Soul, Hidden Agenda, Blood Sport, Once BurnedDisc Two: Hooked Up, Rats, Mind Games, Revenant, Babel, Terry's Friend Dates A RobotDisc Three: Eyewitness, Final Cut, The Last Resort, Armory, Sneak Peek, The Eggbaby, ZetaDisc Four: Plague, April Moon, Sentries of the Lost Cosmos, Payback, Where's Terry?, Ace in the HoleSpecial Features:Featurette: "Inside Batman Beyond - The Panel": Batman Beyond Season Two panel discussion continues with Bruce Timm (Producer), Alan Burnett (Producer), Glen Murakami (Producer), Paul Dini (Producer) and Moderator Jason HillhouseCommentary: "Splicers" by Bruce Timm (Producer), James Tucker (commentator replacement for director Curt Geda), Glen Murakami (Producer), Andrea Romano (Voice Director) and Will Friedle ("Terry McGinnis/Batman" Voice)Commentary: "The Eggbaby" by Bruce Timm (Producer), James Tucker (Director), Glen Maurakami (Producer), Andrea Romano (Voice Director) and Will Friedle ("Terry McGinnis/Batman" Voice)Highly Recommended!

Its Batman Beyond!!! This show deserves 5 stars. I just wish DC Animated would make a Batman Beyond series of Movies (with Terry McGuinness not the recent Tim Drake Batman Beyond.) Only wished this "new" in package copy came with a Vudu code like Season 1 and 3 not sure if it was removed or they quit putting them in the packs but I recently (in 2016) bought new and used copys of season 1 and 3 and they came with Vudu codes and they still worked despite the expiration date on the code saying they were only valid through 2012

Good, but not as good as Season 1
I just finished watching the last episode of Batman Beyond, Season 2. I thoroughly enjoyed all 13 episodes of Season 1 and could not wait to get my hands on Season 2. But now that I have, I'd have to agree with reviewer Eric's opinion (on this page) that the show seemed to lose focus in the second season.I disagree (mostly) with his suggestion that it is due to the introduction of the Max Gibson character; I like Max's character and the 'energy' that she brings to the show. Besides, the creators are always visibly at pains to remind us that, unlike his predecessor, Terry is only a fragile teenager and has to deal with the pressures of adolesence on top of battling supervillains. It seems pretty plausible that he would need someone to lean on to ease the weight of his secret, more than a Bruce Wayne would. That said, I still found it ironic that two of the better episodes - 'Payback' and 'Ace in the Hole' - happened to have little or no involvement of Max's character.Eric was right on the money, though, in arguing that the season's ills had to do with the lack of an underlying storyline to hold everything together, and even moreso with the weakness of this season's villains. UGH! I always found that the strength of this show lay in the coolness of its supervillains. The element of science fiction always separated it from Warner Bros' previous Batman and Superman installments. But several of the villains in this season were lame and weak, and in the case of 'Eggbaby', just downright cheesy. I loathed the 'Joyride' episode.I think that overall the creators struggled to find new and convincing storylines - maybe it was all of the pressure and stringencies from the network. The action becomes annoyingly predictable in certain instances. I was also struck by how inept they seemed to make Terry's Batman in this season; in several instances, he gets jammed after he simply attempts to walk straight into the villain's hideout (see 'Ace In The Hole' for a classic example). So much for stealth...maybe he should keep that cloaking device switched on permanently!Still, there are high points here:- 'Mind Games' features one of the best action sequences I've ever seen in a cartoon.- 'Eggbaby' has a great storyline, despite the cheesiness of the villain(s)- Payback would've/could've been a great villain, if not for his immaturity and the one-time nature of his character.- 'Ace In The Hole', I found, also brought something fresh and new to the table in terms of plots for animated action series.Overall, you may be able to tell that the strength of this season is not in its concepts or in the action. Buy this if you're a fan of the series; otherwise cop Season 1, and wait for Season 3.

Habatchii Review: Batman Beyond
Inside Batman Beyond Batman Beyond: Season One (DC Comics Classic Collection) In building an animation library, it is necessary to include the classics, not withholding the newest implementation of the originals. 'Batman Beyond' is no exception, keeping to the classic Batman theme while exploring the inner Batman in everyone.THE PRODUCT:The production all are very nicely exhibited; each series builds a brand new inter-dependent theme while providing entertainment worth reviewing.THE MOOD:The main audience of animation libraries are typically adult-oriented people; this production in all of its youthful paradigms, has the capacity to entertain both youth and adult audiences.OVERALL:The series as a whole should be a notable asset to any animation library; the individual episodes add extra flexibility in scheduling private viewing. I would endorse 'Batman Beyond'.

Finally gave up waiting for region 2 boxset, went for region 1 via Rarewaves & was not disappointed in the slightest, well packaged, well delivered & the stories, well Ok I'd seen some on British TV but that wasn't a problem, I could watch these again & again. This series was for me a more "stand alone" series of episodes with some recurring villains but no major bad guy/story arc like Blight but still well worth it. Have to see about season 3 next.

Batman for the future
The Batman of the Future/Batman Beyond series continues the high standard of animation to come out of Bruce Timm and DC/WB collaboration. From catching up with old and embittered Bruce Wayne o his relationship with his new ward its a brilliant continuation to series 1.Series 2 lets the new batman really find his feet in this new Gotham City and continue to build up his own rogues gallery. Its a worthwhile purchase and if you are already a fan of Batman the animated series then this is a perfect addition.
