work as intended
There are a million and a half companies selling this type of spring compressor…bought these because I’ve had good experiences with OTC tools in the past. I’ve used and older version of these that my buddy had and we never had any issues with them. They haven’t changed much if at all…maybe a different washer set up? Ordered these May of 2022 and they came with a case and are made in Taiwan. My other OTC tools are US made but in this case I’m ok with it…I’m not aware of any US manufacturers making this tool and I did look around. These cost more than some of the cheapest ones out there but I trust OTCs quality over a Chinese generic brand. These are under a lot of pressure and I’ve seen rental units bend.

Works on BMW X5 (E70) front struts
Removing front struts from a BMW X5 (E70) requires compressing the springs while it is still in the wheel well, just to get the bottom of the strut out of the wishbone holder. I used it for this yesterday and it was nice. A little more compact for tight spaces than my similar 1990''s coil spring compressors. The sliding tabs are nice. The caged ball bearings inside the thrust washers is a very nice feature! I greased mine and effort was quite low.OTC never disappoints.

Spring Compressor
3 stars because one of the screws are bent. Not sure if it came that way or if it happened during use, either way, I'm a bit disappointed. That being said it did work wonderfully. I would recommend for home use, but not so much for shop use like they advertise. Besides a shop should have a wall spring compressor anyways.Be sure to have the spring pointed away from you, grease the screws, and (while I did, which maybe why it bent), don't use power tools else you'll shorten the life of the tool.

NO CASE. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok im not that mad, but this is dumb.
I buy lots of OTC tools, they are great. here is why.1. the kits are always clean and well put together. they have what you need in the kit.2. there a quality product for a great price. many or the tool trucks sell re branded OTC items.3. I can get them off Amazon Prime. LOVE IT.4. They come in great plastic cases. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but not this one.Im really upset, had I of known I would of gone es were and gotten a one in a case. I take good car of my tools, and while the cases take up lots of room I dont like to have stuff floating around. the tools are to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to just let sit in a drawer.

Five Stars
Well made but not beefy enough to do a truck strut.

Works great on Toyota springs
I do all of my suspension work and it was worth buying my own compression tool. I recommend it.
