This book, The Great British Farmhouse Cookbook, has been republished as The Farmhouse Cookbook with one big change -- US measurements have been added. Beautiful pictures, inspirational recipes and ideas, this is a lovely book. The copyright date on the new version, The Farmhouse Cookbook, is March 1, 2016, so some of the used ones and perhaps some of the new ones for sale from other sellers will probably be The Great British Farmhouse Cookbook with the British only measurements. Be sure you buy the one you want.

Have yet to make anything from this cookbook. I have gone through and book marked all the one I would like to try. I love the way this book has some very interesting pictures. I will have to find a conversion chart though, but I knew that when I purchased it.

What a lovely cookbook; it's a keeper!

I’ve just bought this and I nearly didn’t because there was some bad reviews. Not sure what planet some of these people are on. There’s a lot of reviews about the photographs not being very good and it being more style over substance and some moaning about the font.Firstly, this is an exactly the same style as many of Jamie Oliver‘s books so if you like the style of his books which have countryside pictures and people doing stuff like feeding the chickens then you’ll like this.A couple of reviews says it looks very sort of middle class, country kitchen blah blah it’s really not. The pictures are of the family who started the farm, some are family photos. No it’s not glossy but again if you’re Jamie Oliver fan like his cookbooks you’ll like this style - Probably used the same photographer. If you want pictures on fine china with delicate portions and fancy wine glasses jog on.Some reviews said there’s nothing new and if you got lots of cookbooks then this probably isn’t for you. I totally disagree with this. I’ve got loads of cookbooks. I think the point of this is all the ingredients are organic. Yes, they do use milk and yoghurt but never says any point that they have to be YEO VALLEY Products, they sponsor the book.Right at the start it tells you how to make yoghurts, how to make soft cheese, how to make your thick cream into clotted cream, how to make crème .There are recipes for different flavoured butters. Last time I saw that was in the old dairy cookbooks that the milk marketing board used to sell. I’ve used those over and over.Is it healthy well there’s no calorie counting but all the recipes are from good fresh organic produce. I’ve just put some very healthy Slimming meatballs into the bin, From a well-known Slimming company, they contain hazardous substances that can cause liver for failure.The recipes might not be massively different, but there are little things in here buttermilk pancakes with honey and vanilla butter Just a little different.Raspberry lemon and yoghurt tea loaf, I have several recipes for tea loaf, but I wouldn’t have added the yoghurt and it makes a big difference. It lifts the bake. It makes it light. This is a lovely book that you will use and use.

This is a lovely book, which I got at a bargain price, and worth every penny. I haven't used any of the recipes yet, but not because I don't want to, and it is clear they will be great when I do. I'm spoilt for choice as to where to start first (probably that gorgeous ginger cake to share with friends and family). As the recipes are geared for a family, these meals will be perfect for when cooking for family and friends, but also to divide up for the freezer. And I loved the history. In fact I read it from cover to cover as soon as I had chance. Love it!

This cookbook more than met my expectations. It is what is said on the cover a "Great British Farmhouse Cookbook" full of super recipes with easy to follow instructions with ingredients that are up to date and readily available. Not only that, it is also a cook book that tells a story of country living. I can thoroughly recommend this book and am thinking of buying one or two more as presents for friends.
