The Face Shade (Blue

I went to live with my sister in Hawaii for a month. I bought this before I got on the plane. Here's my review.PROS:+ One thing I definitely loved about this was its ability to fold flat, and even (if you really wanted to) take it apart completely by unscrewing the sides, and putting it together later. In simpler terms, traveling with this thing is a breeze. No its not the smallest thing to put in your luggage, but because it can be put flat, or taken apart, you should have no problem putting this on the bottom on underneath your stuff and there is no worry about it breaking. 5/5 portability and breakdown-ability+ Headpad. The headpad is great as a double feature. For starters, obviously....its a comfort rest for your head. Its no pillow, but you dont want anything softer out on the beach. The "hidden" feature of the headpad is when its windy. Because you're lying down on it, the weight and pressure of your head will keep this shade nice and secure no matter how much the wind blows at the beach. Anyone who's been to Hawaii or any beach for that matter can tell you that winds can get pretty strong. This thing never once blew away when I was using it. Just make sure to fold it down when you walk away or else it might.+ Shade keeps your face from burning while still being able to breathe unobstructed. No more "shirt over face" strategy. Just prop it up. and you're good to go.+ Adjustable. I like....check that. I LOVE how this thing is adjustable. But not just adjustable, it uses universal wingnuts. In other words, if you ever lose one of those wingnuts, they are easily replaceable. Being able to tighten and untighten it to the exact position you want is invaluable. They could have easily used plastic screws, or made it so the shade only adjusts to 3 different positions or something. But because they are real metal screws and wingnuts, you can tighten and adjust this thing to your hearts desire.+ Material dries out pretty fast and easily. My wet head would put wet spots on the headrest or I'd drip some water on the shade itself, and they'd be gone on the walk back to the car.SO WHY NOT 5 STARS?????? Well there is one single major con/criticism I have for Sun Buddy, Inc. on how to make the 2nd version of this even better and it has to do with its core function.- The material providing the shade is quite thin. Even a second layer of the same material would have been nice. But as it stands by itself, the thing is equivalent to using a blue piece of paper to block the sun. Does it prevent the burning feeling? Absolutely. But it is still quite blinding if you open your eyes while using it. The way I got around it was to put my shirt on top of the shade for extra protection. After all, if you're at the beach, your shirt is probably off already so you might as well put it to some use. Overall, I know this thing isnt supposed to be some certified UVA/UVB protection. I realize that and I didnt buy it for that. But it wouldve been nice to have slightly better shade. I understand it would be more expensive to use a better material, but like I said, a even second or third layer of the same material would've worked. Or maybe some thicker material. Might sound crazy, but recycled material???? I'm sure there are some types of recycled cloth/plastics that are both water resistant and thicker to block sun.- Another minor critique is the material choice and construction itself. The plastic bars can easily break if you bend them in ways that will make them break. So.....just dont do that. I tend to take good care of things I buy and I know not to bend this in a wrong way. I love the use of metal screws/wingnuts. But the plastic-y feeling does seem like it might break. But take care of it, and it should be fine. This is no CON for me. Im just pointing out what other people might think. Does it look and feel cheap? Definitely. But Usability/Function wayyyyyyyyy outweighs the price. Especially compared to those other brands of similar products who charge like $50 for theirs. I saw one going for $70. SEVENTY! For a face shade! I'd rather break off a damn palm tree leaf before doing that. I paid $30 for this and its totally worth it. Maybe its only worth $15, but then how would they make profit? $30 for something that works this well is a steal. But it is made cheaply. I personally dont mind. But just know that it is.Regardless.........for the price, I definitely 100% recommend this product to anyone who loves going out to the beach or just likes to tan outside in their yard or by the pool. I always put my shirt or towel over the shade for the best protection of the sun, but without any other buffer, the shade it provides is still way better than no shade at all. This totally beats using a shirt or hat over your face. You can still breathe without any obstacle or hot breath coming back at you, you can feel the breeze on your face (which is a HUGE plus btw), and depending on where the sun is in the sky/what time of day, you can have all this and still be able to be on your phone!!! I know Im at the beach, but sometimes you just wanna text or play some solitaire or read something. If the sun is coming at a low angle right at your nose, then it will be hard to be on your phone. But when the sun is a little behind you, or coming from a direction where you dont need to pull the shade all the way over, there is still plenty of room for you to be on your phone hands free. 4/5 stars, definitely recommend. And I would buy it again if mine broke or got lost or stolen. If Sun Buddy is listening, please use a better/thicker/or MORE material in the 2nd version! Thanks!

I ordered this as a gift for my mom who always likes to have her face shaded in the Sun. It works perfectly for her to keep her face out of the Sun but get sun on the rest of her body while allowing air to get to her face. What a great invention I'm so glad we found this on Amazon.

i have a flight in business class where my seat lies flat. I will put this over my head and put a sheet over it and be able to sleep on my international flight without a mask on YEH!!!

Best invention! I love getting a little color but want to block the sun from my face & even my chest, at the right angle. So glad I got one!
