Counteracts stress without sedative effect
It either relaxes you, or it does nothing. If you’re already relaxed it won’t have an effect, but if you’re wired / stressed / anxious you may find it helps you tremendously.I had previously been taking NOW Foods L-Theanine as a chewable supplement in 100mg doses (1-3 a day). This 400mg capsule is easy to swallow and has you covered for the whole day. The only downside is that I don’t find that it works as quickly as the chewable one I was taking, presumably because it has to be digested and dissolved in your stomach when ingested that way. However, after an hour or so I feel more balanced.I say more balanced because it doesn’t “kick in” like some supplements which can make you drowsy or cause a noticeable sedative effect. L-Theanine simply seems to create a reduction or lack of stress. It’s not a miracle worker but it does take the edge off, and can also help if you’re jittery from too much caffeine or other stimulating supplements. It works by increasing GABA levels so you shouldn’t combine it with GABA supplements. I don’t take any medications but if you do it would be advisable to check interactions, specifically with any anti-anxiety or sleep meds since many attach to GABA receptors.I don’t take the capsule every day but the advised dosage is one a day.I think that the current price of £12.99 for 4 months (120 capsules) is pretty good value for money.

Works to reduce coffee shakes
I've used combined caffeine and L-Theanine capsules in the past and generally feel they work to perk you up without making you jittery. On weekend mornings, for various self-inflicted reasons the night before, I tend to drink far too much coffee, to the point I can feel it affect me physically. I've used the higher dosage (than the combined capsule) L-Theanine in these situations and anecdotally feel the effects are reduced. Logically not drinking so much coffee would also be an option. As to the "calming" effect - I'm pretty calm as is, and can't say I felt any difference. This seems to be fairly standard though, with the effect only being experienced if you're a generally on edge person. The combined caffeine/L-Theanine capsule is a good way to wake yourself up in the morning, assuming you won't actually miss the coffee experience, and would be my recommendation. If you don't want to give up coffee, then the higher dose standalone capsules will also work.If you're after the "calming" effect, I honestly think it's a question of playing it by ear and being prepared to feel no different.

Works for me.
This is a good price for the dose and number of capsules compared to other brands. I'm certain that the effects of this will vary wildly per person so if someone claims it did nothing then I believe them. I've tried the caffeine combination of the same grand and found it very different to pro plus, much less jumpy and edgy so was interested to try this on its own. The effect for me was to feel very relaxed without tiredness. About an hour after taking the capsule it was very noticeable, chilled is the best description. Something that's been on my mind recently and bugging me was very much a "meh, I'm not that bothered right now", which was a surprise. I'm going to stick with this product. I fully expect the effect to become less profound over time, if so I might save it for use in difficult times but I hooe that's not the case, at this early stage I feel really good on it.

Cake and eat it
I have a love/hate relationship with caffeine and I even stopped drinking it totally for few years. The worst thing about it is the jitteriness and I am prone to panic attacks if I overdo it. I like the buzz caffeine gives me and it helps me concentrate. I develop software and I need to spend a lot of the day thinking very hard! All software developers seem to drink a lot of strong coffee! I have been drinking caffeine the last few days while I have been taking these tablets and I have not really thought about the caffeine at all, which is a good sign! Sometimes I start to feel panicky, but I haven’t felt like it at all. So it’s more the lack of negative symptoms than positive ones that I can report.
