Hello Kitty Baking BookNot exactly what I thought it was going to be.I really thought this book would spend more time on how to actually make the Hello Kitty design part & add it to pies, cakes, etc. you are baking. It covers a little bit of that, but not as much as I hoped it would.Instead it is a recipe book. It starts with "key ingredients" & "baking equipment" then "decorating equipment".The first recipe is for "Hello Kitty Sugar Icing Cookies with Royal Icing."It gives instructions for how to decorate, but one of the instructions says to use "Cookie cutters to cut out shapes".Which means basically you buy Hello kitty cookie cutters, use the recipe & instructions for frosting the cookies.There are other recipes, then near the end of the book, it gives instructions on "piping, rope borders" "shell borders" "basket weave design". Also toward the end of the book (nicest thing in my opinion) is that there are some "Hello Kitty" templates (including keroppi, my melody, badtz-maru, hello kitty, hello kitty's bow & my personal favorite... Chococat.).Mainly it looks like those would be useful for the brownie recipe where confectioners sugar is used with a template to put an image of hello kitty on the brownies.There is also baking math for converting American measurements & metric back & forth.On the bottom of most every page there are tips to use when making items.It's not a large book but it is not tiny either.Here at AMAZON I did pay less than the cover price of $14.95 US / $16.95 CAN.I love Hello Kitty, but the cover price seems to be too much in my personal opinion. Had I have spent that much, I would have sent it back for a refund.I feel $10 is an appropriate price for this book & what it is.Since I can not give 3.5 stars like I want, and considering I paid about half of the US cover price I will give it four stars.

For $30 I expected something a lot bigger...

I pre-ordered this book when it was first announced so I was definitely looking forward to it. The book arrived in great condition and I read it from cover to cover as soon as I received it. This is the perfect little book for those who love Hello Kitty and baking!!! There are about 20 recipes (more if you count the "More to Try" variations), ranging from what's on the cover (cupcakes, cookies, cake pops and macarons) to different things like an ombre Hello Kitty cake, an ice cream cake and even strawberry-rhubarb tartlets. The instructions are kept simple and concise, with just the right amount of detail so that it's not overwhelming. The pictures are beautiful and give you an idea as to what the end products should look like. I really like that there's a "Getting Started" section, which covers helpful tips on key ingredients, baking equipment and decorating equipment, as well as some "Extras", which covers basic piping techniques and other little tidbits. I also like that they included the key character templates in the book so they're all in one place (namely, the book!) when I need them in the future. The quality of the book itself is terrific as well (nice hard cover and thick pages), especially for the price point! All in all, a very nicely done and super cute book - I couldn't be more pleased!! I can't wait to give these out as Christmas gifts this year!** Amazon has my purchase incorrectly linked to the kindle version. I actually purchased the hardcover version.

My little girl and I love hello kitty and friends! We got this book and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! This is such a great book for both of us! The author has perfected all the cutest and most beautifully made treats! (I have a lot of work to do :P) But not only are the baked goods the cutest things ever, the recipes are delicious!!! I've tried the HK sugar cookies with royal icing, HK cake and the cupcakes! They were definitely the hit of the party and made my lil' girl so happy! I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves hello kitty and all the Sanrio characters!! I'll have to order more for my girlfriends and their kids!! This makes a very cute gift idea as well!! :D

This book is so precious! For a small book, it is actually very detailed with beautiful pictures, clear instructions, tutorial guides, and even templates, links, and resources for needed tools. My kids ask me to flip through the pictures every single day because they are just all so adorable. My daughter is a very avid Hello Kitty fan and my son loves photos of baked goods, so they are both hooked on this book. It's an excellent gift for any fan of Hello Kitty, or for most bakers of all ages. The recipes are all sweets, but varies from basic cupcakes and decorated cookies to ice cream sandwiches and pies. I'm very happy with this book.

Very cute book for Hello Kitty fans like myself and plan on testing out some recipes for my website (with full credit and disclosure always), but it is kind of a novelty so be warned!Half of the book is how-to piping styles which is great, but as a professional I can tell you the author did not go into full enough detail for beginners. There is a page of templates of a few character heads, but most of the recipes that are super Hello Kitty are shown on the book cover.The rest are basic recipes with a Hello Kitty stenciled face, like there is a brownie recipe and a powder sugar dusted Hello Kitty head stencil. Not really Hello Kitty like a shaped cookie or cake pop, but... okay... that's the majority of the recipes, and there aren't many recipes to begin with. Pie recipes with a pie crust cookie cut out, and another pie recipe with another same pie crust cookie cut out. :/ However, It's still a cute book (small). A little disappointed though when I opened it up though but the photos are pretty.

This is a fantastic baking book. I'm a HUGE Hello Kitty fan so I had to get this book because of that, but these are great recipes for any occasion.There are no long lists of ingredients that you've never heard of, these are easy and very straight-forward recipes that make you WANT to bake! Everything I've made so far has been incredibly tasty, not to mention adorable!I highly recommend getting the Hello Kitty cookie cutters (unfortunately not included :() because they're used in many of the cookie recipes, but it's not necessary (and cookie cutter will do of course ~ just less fun!)
