BASE CAMP Cycling Bike Helmet

Well designed ventilation- could feel strong air flow down my neck and upper back from the large central scoop. Retention system is well designed and very adjustable. Sweat pads are easily removed with velcro attachments. Chin strap is padded. Ear openings are very easily adjusted with one handed buckles. Visor is moderately tinted, magnetic snaps do not rattle, are very secure and positive when they engage. When in the up position they do block the front vents which cuts down on the overall cooling significantly. However, when in the down position, they do a fantastic job of keeping wind, bugs and dust out of your eyes. The venting on the shield helps keep the lens fog free. Can also be worn with sunglasses/prescription eyewear without interference.Overall, a very good helmet for the money. Hopefully I never have to test it’s crash worthyness, however it is USA CSPC rated.

It was packaged well. Awesome helmet looks and feels great. While going down hill 45+mph it felt great the visor did not wobble nice and stiff on the helmet. Great buy! Only downside is the chin strap it loosens, there is no grip for it to stay on the measured size. Over all i love this helmet for the price...Additional:Do not keep in bag after use. It will give a foul smell the helmet cushions and straps will get molded..

(The Bad things or just my opinions what it needs!)1) None so far ( will update if anything comes up in the future)*Summary - So far this helmet is excellent! This is a great helmet. I like the look and the way it feels on my head. I also like the fact that they included a carrying pouch for the helmet so it doesn't get scratched up inside of my backpack. There is also a velvet pouch for the visor to avoid scratching that as well. The only thing that this helmet is really missing is a light on the back, but you cannot deduct points for a feature that something simply does not offer in the first place.

I was a little nervous when I put on the helmet and was only able to squeeze my giant noggin about 80% into the helmet before feeling some discomfort and pain about an inch above both ears. I checked the headband and sadly it was fully extended...I don't give up that easily and I love the look of the helmet as well as the visor. So I took the helmet into my workshop and made adjustments until I was able to get the perfect fit. Not sure if I compromised the structure and safety of the helmet, so I can't recommend making the adjustments I made. I also super glued the small pieces of Velcro to the inside of the helmet (they're not glued very well out of the box).Now I'm very happy with my helmet. Feels great. Looks awesome. Keeps my brains right where I like them. I was able to adjust the band to keep it snuggly. The chin strap is comfortable but tends to slip out of the buckles. So, I fit it to my face and used a zip tie to keep the straps in place. The buckles under the ears also came loose every time I pulled the helmet over my head so I put a few little drops of super glue in the corners of the buckles to keep them secure.Glad I got the helmet when I did... Just took a pretty gnarly spill riding down a dark street a few days ago. Didn't see a pothole filled with sand until it was too late and slammed on my brakes which made me fishtail and went flying sideways. Scraped up my elbow, knee, shoulder and palm pretty badly and would have probably slammed my skull right on the pavement but luckily I had my helmet on. Scuffed up the helmet pretty nice and the visor flew off into the abyss but brains stayed intact.Overall, I definitely recommend this helmet if you have a mostly normal to slightly above average sized head.

Great looking helmet all the way around. I specifically bought this helmet for the visor as I do a lot of evening riding on a bayou trail with lots of bugs in the air. There is not enough clearance from the visor to your face to accommodate eye glasses. I will have to think of a way to offset the visor a bit from the magnets in the helmet grooves. Pretty disappointed with this purchase.

The helmet worked great for my triathlon. The visor/magnetic shades are sturdy and blocked the rain very well. The helmet fits alright once you can get it sized right. I have the ratchet maxed out and the back pulled down all the way and it seems like i could use just a touch more. Also dont try to take the helmet off or put on with the visor/shades down it will pop off the magnetic dots and hit the ground (found that out the hard way). When all is said and done I'm pleased with my purchase and would by another one if it came down to it.

Love this helmet and it is much more comfortable to have the isor rather than sunglassess however would have been much more convenient and value for money to have magnets above to raise the visor out of the way when not needed. It's either on or you have a visor to store somewhere if not needed mid ride.

This looks ok but be warned that it is small for a cycle helmet. Only just fits my head and is quite tight. Have to tilt it forwards slightly for visor to cover my eyes properly. Unlikely a problem for women at all, but if you're a bloke and you've got a big head ... be warned.

Easy to adjust with a lovely visor which offers protection from the wind, rain and sun

Dopo un periodo di quasi abbandono ho ripreso a pedalare con la mia bici e ultimamente ho voluto “valorizzarla” con qualche accessorio, anche se in questo caso si tratta di un accessorio per me.Non ho mai preso in considerazione l’acquisto di un casco da bicicletta che ho sempre reputato fastidioso, soprattutto in estate, ma poi la ragione ha avuto il sopravvento (i capelli bianchi servono anche a questo -:)) e ho deciso che è meglio sopportare un po’ di fastidio piuttosto che rompersi la testa nel malaugurato caso di caduta.Il prodotto è arrivato dalla Germania ma presumo sia partito dalla Cina, vista la lunga attesa per la consegna. Il tempo indicato nella pagina varia da 17 a 27 giorni. A me è arrivato dopo 3 settimane esatte dall’ordine. Non scrivo mai nulla riguardo la spedizione nelle mie recensioni ma stavolta ho ritenuto di evidenziare questo aspetto per dire che bisogna armarsi di un po’ di pazienza e posso affermare che ne vale la pena, in considerazione anche del rapporto qualità/prezzo.E’ leggerissimo, esteticamente è piacevole con la sua colorazione nera opaca, senza però particolari finiture grafiche di pregio, immagino per contenerne il costo. Ritengo un “plus” la strepitosa visiera che si aggancia quasi da sola; basta solo avvicinarla senza dover prendere la ….mira. La ritenzione dei tre magneti è molto forte. La visuale non viene distorta dalla curvatura ed inoltre permette di indossare eventuali occhiali da vista. Non crea particolari turbolenze che potrebbero risultare fastidiose per gli occhi. E’ possibile agganciarla anche rovesciata, nel caso non la si volesse usare. In questa situazione però le prese d’aria anteriori vengono coperte e quindi il flusso interno si riduce notevolmente.Dopo un paio di uscite, con una percorrenza ciascuna di una sessantina di Km, ho fugato i dubbi che avevo sulla comodità. Posso dire che mi sono trovato bene, senza patire indolenzimenti nelle zone di contatto con la testa. Va detto però che la forma della scatola cranica varia da persona a persona, quindi non è detto che la “calzata” possa risultare ideale per tutti.Nelle zone di contatto con la testa sono posizionati dei cuscinetti dotati di velcro che possono essere staccati e lavati. Magari se fossero stati un pochino più ampi come superficie sarebbe stato meglio ma comunque vanno bene lo stesso.La regolazione della misura avviene tramite una comoda rotella posizionata dietro e viene indicata dal venditore variabile da 22” a 24”, ovvero da circa 56 cm a circa 61 cm. L’etichetta invece la indica da 54 a 58 cm. Il mio testone ha una circonferenza di 60 cm e regolando al massimo l’apertura ci entra senza forzare eccessivamente, quindi la stranezza è che parrebbe errata l’indicazione nel casco. Mah, poco importa; sappiate che almeno a fino 60 cm non ci sono problemi.L’unico compromesso a cui devo sottostare nell’indossarlo riguarda il sottogola che ho dovuto tendere al massimo, altrimenti avrei perso il contatto con la parte superiore della testa, lasciando un lasco eccessivo, il quale potrebbe portare al distacco in caso di urto. In questo modo la cinghietta sdoppiata non passa ai lati dell’orecchio ma ci si appoggia, senza però crearmi nessun fastidio.Le aperture di ingresso dell’aria sono tre; due anteriori e una sulla parte alta della calotta. Ero un po’ scettico sulla loro efficacia perché mi erano parse un po’ piccole o quantomeno poche. Nell’uso pratico ho constatato invece una buona ventilazione. Sulla parte superiore interna sono ricavate tre scanalature longitudinali piuttosto marcate; penso che il buon ricambio d’aria sia dovuto a questa soluzione.E’ presente la marchiatura CE e soddisfa le norme comunitarie UNI EN 1078 riguardo i caschi da bicicletta, quindi c’è la garanzia di una protezione per la testa costruita bene, cosa che si apprezza anche visivamente.Un elogio per la presenza di una sacca richiudibile per riporlo e un sacchetto per proteggere da graffi la visiera quando non utilizzata.

Pur possedendo già un caschetto da bici, mi sono fatto allettare dall'acquisto di questo modello un pò per l'aspetto più "professionale" del precedente, un pò per la presenza della visiera, che l'altro non aveva.Dopo un'attesa un pò più lunga del solito, di alcune settimane, il caschetto è arrivato in perfette condizioni, custodito in un sacchetto a sua volta inserito in una confezione ben imballata; come da aspettative, è risultato molto leggero e per me anche bello esteticamente, nel suo colore nero opaco, inoltre è munito di una visiera scura (agganciabile con estrema facilità grazie alla presenza di magnetini) che proteggerà un pò di più i vostri occhi da polvere, insetti e vento. La vestibilità è più o meno media per un uomo adulto, poi può essere regolata in maniera più precisa con una rotella presente in corrispondenza della nuca, come generalmente si fa con questo tipo di accessori, mentre l'aerazione è garantita dalla presenza di aperture ben distribuite lungo i profili. Quindi nel complesso tutto ok, posso tranquillamente consigliarlo.... buona navigazione e buoni acquisti a tutti!
