Chief Architect Home Designer Essentials 2019

If you're looking to just make a design of a house, this is probably your product. However, if you want to use it for drawings to use as plans (like a basement finish) and need the ability to submit those plans to your town/city/county, be forewarned. I first should have noticed something was wrong when I couldn't even find pictures of a furnace. I called support and they said it didn't have that anymore. Furthermore, you can't download any additional items. So you are stuck with what they have. The bigger issue is that you can only export the drawing as a picture. So no pdf, and getting into Word isn't as clear and large as it needs to be. This limitation should be known when you buy the product. I'm stuck with this now and hope my town will accept my drawings. If I could do over again, I wish I knew these limitations and would not buy this product!

Start with the video tutorials. After you figure out the general flow of the program, you can create amazing plans easily. We're excavating and landscaping our back yard. You see the initial result after a couple of hours, the yard before the plantings are added. Such a powerful program, and this is just the amateur homeowner version.

I had much older versions of Home and Landscape. I had a laptop issue where I lost the programs and was unable to load them from the original disks, so I bought this version. The graphics are not as good as the older versions and there are fewer library selections. It's a little easier to use with a touchscreen. I had plans from the house we built that I wanted to recreate, so it worked fine for that.

I bought this product to use in remodeling projects that we do. Compared to other house planning software I've tried, it was very easy to get started and learn how to add items, etc. I was able to start re-creating my house the same day I received it. It also has many additional features that I have not yet used, such as the exterior landscaping tools and the ability to put a picture of the real background of exterior renderings. I have not needed those features yet, however, I look forward to learning about them as well.

Complete design for granny unit we are building. Prospective view and walk through. Very helpful and contributed to many changes you can’t see from a floor plan. Good online tutorials.

Ok but nowhere near as advanced as Chief Architect

Very good software, just limited to some features that is very important but you have to update to Pro.
