Della at her best.
The movie arrived on time and was in great condition. The contents revealed the incredible acting ability of an artist who'd been around a long time as a singer and great actress.

This film will lift a heavy heart
Although I am not sure which came first, "Miracle in the Woods" or "Touched by an Angel", I am quite sure there is a miracle to be found in this film. If you are expecting a Hollywood blockbuster, you may find the this film too focused on family values than on box office receipts. With a seasoned cast and a down-to-earth screen play, it is a solid B production of a bygone era of good movie making. If you are in need of something to lift a heavy heart and ease an aching soul, this film will surely mend life's ravelled sleeve of care.

A Gem I'd Never Heard Of
This was a surprising movie, surprising because it was so good. It was made for TV, back in the 90's, so the video quality isn't the best. However, that didn't detract at all from it for me. I loved the acting, the sets, everything. It's a heartwarming movie, and one the whole family could watch. The plot is intricate enough that young children would need explanations of what is happening, and there is one scene where there is cigarette smoking; but the main character stamps out the cigarette. There is no overt violence, but a baby is taken away from his mother against the mother's will, and that is disturbing. So, with young children, use discretion. But for adults and teens, I recommend this movie very highly. All the acting is excellent, not out of date even though more than two decades have passed. Della Reese is especially believable in her role, and it surely must have been a difficult role to play well. I don't want to give any spoilers, so I will stop there. But I am in awe now, of her acting ability.

Pretty good movie
I liked this movie, mainly because of Patricia Heaton and Della Reese. It was a good story without sex, violence and foul language. I liked the characters and the the story behind Della's character.HOWEVER (here come the spoilers, so read at your own risk)There were a few plot holes that were unbelievable and didn't really fit into the story. Like Wanda's desperation to sell the property to get her husband out of jail. For some inexplicable reason, she keeps it a secret from everybody, including the daughter. How would the daughter not know something was wrong? Even we, the viewers, don't know what her problem is until more than halfway through the movie except for a brief glimpse of a "past due" notice, and the problem is MUCH worse than an unpaid debt. Then at the end, after she comes clean and everybody is suddenly lovey-dovey, there's no mention of the husband or what becomes of him (I hope he rots in prison).Mrs. Cooper is living out in the woods. She's got a tenuous grasp on reality, but gets around good and is vibrant and spry. When she's forcibly taken to the hospital (another unbelievable twist), she's suddenly diagnosed with a terrible heart condition and is going to die any minute. What??? Her sudden decline is a convenient plot twist to make for a tear-jerker ending, when a happy ending would have sufficed just as well with happy instead of sad tears. But outside of that, it was pretty good, which is why I gave it three stars.

lovingly told and beautifully performed by everyone involved
One of those movies that I literally threw on to have something playing in the background and I was almost instantly drawn in by it and couldn't stop watching. Miracle In the Woods is rich in character development, lovingly told and beautifully performed by everyone involved. When two estranged sisters' mother passes away they reunite after the funeral to discover that she owned a pecan grove. Upon further inspection the property they discover Lilly (Della Reese) living there and she forms a bond with young Gina, the daughter of Sarah (Meredith Baxter). Lilly's story is told via flashback and we see how she came to have her son taken from her when she was young and how she ended up on the farm. It's tragic and heart wrenching to watch, and yet Della delivers a performance with such hope and grace you believe that something positive is going to come of it as she brings people together. Patricia Heaton and Meredith Baxter have near perfect on screen chemistry as sisters who feel like they come from different worlds and struggle to communicate with each other. This movie is about love, redemption, forgiveness, and the ultimate binding power of family. Considering this was a tv movie it was incredibly engrossing and not nearly as predictable as I thought it would be. The acting is superb from the entire cast. Lovely movie to watch with the entire family. I highly suggest watching this hidden gem.

One of the best movies I have ever seen
One of the best movies I have ever seen. I gave my firstborn up for adoption at birth, after trying to prepare for his birth, I realized that poverty meant raising a child surrounded by drug addicts. I could handle being poor, but not setting my son up for failure, so I gave him up and I hope it was the right decision for him, It sure wasn't for me.. There is nothing more painful as giving a child up. I tried to console myself by having more children, and being a mom was the best thing ever, but it hurt me more because it made me realize all the more what I had given up. And then when I finally got to meet him, I froze, because the pain was too great. Sometimes past hurts are so huge, you can't face them fully. Going through the emotions and being able to cry about the past...that's what this film did for me. Oh I have cried, but I don't think there are enough tears in the world can fix the past. God knows. And I'm looking forward to seeing Him face to face where there will be no more tears, my only prayer is my hope to see all my sons in heaven some day. That's where true joy lives.

A Feel Sad Feel GoodType Of Story
I liked MIRACLE IN THE WOODS starring Della Reese (Touched By An Angel), Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond), Meredith Baxter (Family Ties) and Anna Chlumsky (My Girl) when I first watched it years ago and recently decided to re-visit it. The story is about family, secrets, love, tragedy, loss and hope. After the death of their mother two sisters, Wanda and Sarah discover an elderly woman, Lilly Cooper (Della Reese) living in a small small cottage on their family pecan grove. As the story unfolds we learn about Lilly's mysterious and tragic past and her connection to their mother and the pecan grove.
