Brain on Fire - The True Story of Susannah Cahalan
Viewed on Netflix and found it to be both disturbing and hope-filled. Based on the true health and life events of Susannah Cahalan, as shared in her book Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness . As someone working in the mental health field, this movie provides insight into how diseases of the body can affect apparent mental health. Cahalan's case brought about vast changes in the medical field, leading to the proper diagnosis of the sort of auto-immune disease she suffers from - anti-NMDA receptor autoimmune encephalitis. At the time of her diagnosis, she was only the 217th case; now thousands of people have been properly diagnosed and received treatment. Sadly, it's hard to not consider how many with this disease, going undiagnosed, ended up institutionalized or living in nursing homes because doctors could not figure out what was truly wrong with them. Although the affected individual seems absent, their mind is actually there - trapped in a mal- or non-functioning body. Will add this movie (with the book) to my educational library to share with others in the field.

Get out of my room!
This is the true story of reporter Susannah Cahalan who was fortunate enough to be played by Chloë Grace Moretz. Susannah develops a rare brain disorder that doctors had a hard time diagnosing. Most of the film is Chloe acting goofy and then laying in a hospital bed. It is a drama without much action. In spite of being slow moving, I found it still entertaining.Guide: No F-word, sex, or nudity.

It was one of the best that I have seen in awhile
I saw this on Netflix today. It was one of the best that I have seen in awhile. Zoe does a beautiful job with the role as do all of the actors. Very intriguing and hopefully will encourage health care professionals to listen to the family when they say that their loved one is not acting normal to try and find the correct diagnosis no matter how long it takes.

Medicine Is Not Always An Exact Science.
Absolutely loved it. You need a working mind to understand and enjoy this movie. Everyone carried their parts. I would ever go as far to say, this is some of Chloe's best work. Her talent has been wasted on some of her previous work. This was like reading an exceptional book, just couldn't put it down. Didn't even want to take one of those necessary breaks.

One woman's living hell
Once again Chloe Grace Moretz shines in this underappreciated gem. Sadly, this film has gone almost completely unnoticed and the horrible reviews don't help either. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this film having not previously known the subject matter. Knowing it is a true story makes the events seem even more terrifying. We can never know everything, even with modern medicine. Highly recommended

Amazing acting. Very moving
This film was amazing. So powerful and so well acted. Chloe Grace Moretz's portrayal of a young adult battling a terrifying yet misunderstood illness brought tears to my eyes. Although the subject matter is very bleak, the film is very watchable and in parts quite uplifting. Definitley worth checking this out. Its pretty difficult to get hold of a copy and I had to make do with this British audio with Polish subtitles but even so I was delighted to pick this up on Amazon.

A performance worth watching by Chloe
I was a bit unsure about this film even though it stars one of my favourite actresses Chloe Grace Moretz. I wasn’t disappointed in the end. The film is excellent and Chloe gives one of her best performances as she plays a woman who has to go through a very difficult situation in her life. Without giving anything away I would recommend this film to people who like films based on true events or like me are fans of Chloe Grace Moretz.

Everyone should have a copy for reference of this rare condition which attacks but often ignored
A very true account of the onslaught of encephalitis in just one of its many forms.I think this should be in every study group for medical students and also in many schools to gain better understanding of this often critical and misdiagnosed rare illness.
