However one note of caution the programme starts off with Day 1 which is a detoxing day which if you are a Type 2 person with diabetes (This book is only recommended for Type 2) on insulin you may find difficult ...
Arrived quickly. This book can be read in an hour. It appears to be written by someone that speaks English as a second language i.e. the words don't quite flow naturally however the author is able to get the information across well enough. The book gives a simple explanation of what diabetes is and the story of how the author came across the Vedda diet given differs from the on-line version of events - on-line description a lot more dramatic in nature! Also author on the book is just Michael whilst on-line it is a Michael Dempsey. Please note I found another presentation on-line for a different product which was word for word the same as the on-line presentation for this book but with different actors, even the dramatic footage was the same (Except the tribe was from Sri Lanka!)That said the information regarding diabetes is simple but roughly accurately described. To be fair the author does provide a 30 day diet plan which is almost ketogenic in nature (he does explain it is ketogenic in nature). He also gives a recipe for each of the foods mentioned - though I noted that the Mushroom and Dried Fruit Pilaf on page 69 had no dried fruit in the recipe!! The menu however does look delicious (book is in black and white). It describes the needs of minerals and vitamins such as Chromium and Magnesium and the foods such as cinnamon and ginger which are known to help reduce or keep blood glucose down.I can't say the book provided any new information (but I have been diabetic for almost 40 years) but as stated previously the menus look lovely. The 30 day programme may benefit some. However one note of caution the programme starts off with Day 1 which is a detoxing day which if you are a Type 2 person with diabetes (This book is only recommended for Type 2) on insulin you may find difficult to manage unless you know how to handle your diabetes well. Day one detox consists of 1tbsp lime juice, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp pure honey, 1/8 tsp turmeric, 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper, 1/8 tsp rosemary, fresh fruit and a minimum of 80 ounces of water - so you will have to adjust insulin levels accordingly. You will have to buy minerals and vitamins such as magnesium etc for the 30 day programme however all of the ingredients are easily available for the food recipes.
