Nice wake up alarm with 2ndary usage.
Short version:Easy setup and decent quality. Bright light with one choice of color light. Put in 3 AAA batteries, plug into wall, setup time and alarm time, set volume and radio channel if desired and you are good to go. Overall it does what it advertised so if this is what you are after, then go buy one.Long version:1) easy setup. It was pretty easy to figure out what the buttons do and what not. I didn't really need the instruction manual to figure things out. Just open and start pressing buttons and it is pretty self-explanatory. Just make sure to stick 3 AAA in the back and plug in the wall and you are set to go.2) flimsy battery cover. The battery cover was a bit flimsy, but it works. Overall it can be better designed but hey you don't often change batteries anyways since the batteries are only for backup. I would like to see some type of string so the battery cover doesn't fall out everytime I open it.3) short USB cable and cheap USB power block. The USB cable is short so I had to keep it close to the socket. The USB power block is also cheap. So if you want something fancier just use your extra phone USB power block and your own micro-usb cable.4) bright light and one choice of color.I am not sure what the one color light feature is but you can have your usual yellow light which you can adjust the brightness up and down and then if you want you can choose one extra color. The main light brightness is pretty bright IMO. So this is nice.5) capacitive touch button. There are 4 hard buttons on top and a bunch of soft buttons on the front. The front button is ok but can be slightly annoying if press fast. It would occasionally miss if you rapid press. But if you slow down then you are good. There is also a feedback light to indicate any capacitive button press. Overall that is nice.6) volume control. This is the one thing I dislike enough to criticize this item. The other issues are minor and can be ignored. This is why I gave this a 4 stars. The volume is loud for sure to make sure you wake up, however the volume control is pretty lacking. You cycle through low to high and there is no way to go the other direction. You just have to cycle through again if you missed you number. Moreover the lowest volume is still pretty loud. Just for reference I keep mine at 2 out 15 and that is sufficient for me to wake up. I just wished they would make it so the lowest volume is actually low. The lowest setting is still pretty loud.6) alarm and wake up feature.I can attest this does what it said it does. Just before the alarm rings it starts to light up the room. However since this is summer here in the USA, this feature we get naturally in the morning. It would be much more useful in the winter when I wake up and it is still dark out. Overall I can't tell if this slow light up feature really helps or not in terms of waking you up properly, but it does work as advertised. Keep in mind the light does not work if you are not plugged into wall.7) overall build quality.Overall it seems solid. I cant say for longevity as I only used this for 1 day. Light output seems consistent and the radio features is nice. Though it would be nice to have it internet connected to get time and such as like everything is going now a days. But then again it was low cost so I can fault it there. I also like the handle on the back to make it easy to transport here and there. And the brightest setting is pretty bright for the room.BONUS:Since this is USB powered if you ever have a power outage you can always use a portable USB phone charger to run this thing. It is bright enough to light up a room! So it can be a dual purpose use should you end up not using the alarm and wake up feature.

Great night light and alarm clock for my kids
so i wanted a new night light for my kids. the small plug in one isn't bright enough so i looked at different solutions and saw this sun rise alarm clock. this alarm clock is suppose to simulate the sun rising to wake you up naturally. so at about 5mins before your alarm goes off it starts off at light level #1 (the lowest) gradually going up to level #10 the brightest, which is pretty bright. Some people complained about the brightness but I didn't mind the brightest setting. you have the ability to set it to 10 or 15 different pre-recorded sound settings or set it to FM radio.it comes with a micro usb cord for wired power or you can use x3 AAA batteries. the clock itself is more of a off white color, its not white white. for what i'm using it for it works great. i use it as a night light for my kids. you can set it to "sun rise" which will wake you up with rising light intensity or "sunset" where you set a time and it'll start at the preset light intensity and lower it gradually over 30mins. or if you just want to use it as a night light you can set it from #1 thru #10 setting, and it'll stay at that setting all night.another feature it has it has is a few different colors like orange, green, blue, etc. but the disadvantage of setting it these other colors you cannot change the intensity of the light. these orange, green, blue, etc. are set pretty bright. for my kids, too bright for a night light. so we just set it to the yellow'ish color, which will allow you to change the light intensity.the digital clock color is orange, i dont mind it but i know some people wouldn't like that color. the digital clock brightness has low and high light intensity as well.the FM was kinda hard to figure out as the manual wasn't very clear on how to change the FM stations. you don't "tune" to different FM stations. you have to let the clock auto scan for channels and it'll save it as P1, P2, P3, P4, etc. and after it scans then you can scroll thru those P1, P2, P3, etc. for the station you want. i wish i could just change it to the station i wanted rather than have the auto scan but it's not a big deal as i don't use the FM radio much. the reception was fine. I received all the usual stations as i would any other radio i have. the speaker is small and the sounds is good enough for me but don't expect deep rich bass or sound, it just doesn't have it for this 2 inch speaker.the other thing i didn't like was the volume control. there's a - and + control but that's for changing other settings and not use for volume. you have to toggle a single volume button going low to high only. you couldn't toggle up a volume setting then toggle down a volume. if you wanted a setting and you missed it you would have to toggle thru the 1 - 15 volume setting all over. it's basically cycling thru the volume settings. not a big deal for me as we don't use the FM much.the pictures show the size of the clock against a 12 inch ruler. low level light setting and highest level bright setting, different colors (orange, green, blue, etc) you can toggle thru. the rear has a easy to grab handle, micro USB power, battery slot.with the lights off and the lowest setting on the clock you can barely see the box a few inches away. at highest setting you can see the box much further.again for me great clock/alarm/night light for kids. they love it. it'd be even better if it came with a remote so the kids can change the light settings from bed!
