Featuring CGRC Review Test Prep Material and 750 CGRC Exam Practice Question and Answer: 9798896002741: Michael, Nasir: Books Review: Excellent layout for slow consumption and information absorption - This book is awesome as a review and test prep tool. I was intimidated by the thickness when I unwrapped it, but then I was pleased to see there are 200 pages of review and 200 pages of sample questions. So it is not door stop like the cissp cbk. It is 20-30 hours of useful reading to be consumed in 1 hour chunks. And another 10-15 hours on practice tests. Starting with the cover of the book which has an unusually comfortable texture, the layout of the book is amazing. Be sure to read the 15 pages of introduction on how to study for the exam and test taking strategies. The recommendation to study a little bit every day over a matter of a month or more aligns perfectly with the layout of the book. Each page has four or five summary topics that can be read in 5 minutes (or study in 10). Starting out (but not in the later chapters) Every couple of pages there are some sample questions to test your understanding. And then about every six pages there a tables that contrast the various approaches and summarize acronyms with their definitions and uses. Each chapter reinforces concepts from the earlier chapters. It may read as repetitive, but you do risk assessment on the assets and later on the system against CIA. Similarly for categorization of the assets, and then the systems against sensitivity levels. Same methodology, but applied in numerous instances. The only things missing are a detailed table of contents, glossary, and a taxonomy. For example there are just seven entries in the table of contents. The section headings are not numbered, for example there is no 2.1 with the title followed by 2.1.1 with a discussion. Each subsection in a chapter is simply identified because it is bold and underlined, followed by 6 to 10 bullet items, which then become the study items that are elaborated on. (See the picture). A good TOC would make it easier to find a particular top like "creating a BIA" rather than flipping through the 35 page chapter. The practice questions are not laid out the way I expected: the explanation of the right answer is immediately after each question. This is different from other practice tests where you take the whole test and grade it. He explains in the first 10 pages of the book, and it is true, getting immediate feedback for each question is imperative. So discipline yourself to cover up the answers while you read the questions, two times or more including eliminating answers, and you will get in great confidence in your probability of success on exam day. I'm using the book to reinforce what I've learned in my career and the ISC2 CGRC boot camp that I just completed. I passed the exam. The sample questions are representative of the majority of the exam questions. However he lacks the "reasoning" questions I encountered on the exams that require making judgement calls for unexpected situations, testing your mastery of Understanding vs Memorization. Review: Great book - Great book assisting me with my studies for the exam

The Risk Register That Stole My Heart
The author has clearly mastered the ancient art of taking some of the driest material known to humankind and transforming it into something that made me laugh, cry, and question all my previous life choices. I started reading it for certification prep; I finished it wondering if I should start a religion based on NIST 800-53. At one point, I caught myself highlighting a sentence about risk registers like it was a love letter. I’m still not sure whether I should be proud or deeply concerned. If you want to set your compass and navigate the world of policy then this book is your Northern Star. It will: 1. Teach you GRC, 2. Make you smarter, 3. And potentially cause you to scream “I AM THE CONTROL BASELINE” from the rooftops… 10/10. Would recommend. Would read again. Would frame the RMF lifecycle on my wall and explain it to guests until they never come back.
