Not one of the best seasons
Season 5 isn't as bad as commonly gets made out, the truth is the show has had incredibly outrageous things happening since the beginning, so season 5 isn't all that different. I mean Christian and Sean were hiding a body in the very first episode! I think the move to LA works brilliantly at first, the first half of season 5 is well up to standard and does its job at giving the show a much fresher take. The Hearts and Scalpels storyline is always fun, and the reality show episode was one of my favourites. It was also interesting to see Sean become the hotter one for once, and the conflict that gave Christian who wasn't ageing as gracefully.Even Julia's appearance was more successful than I had originally expected. She's not my favourite character, but it made sense to give the Christian/Julia storyline some closure after teasing at it for so long, and it lead to some great moments between Sean, Christian, and Julia when it was all exposed. The problem comes in the episodes in the mid-season point. It feels like storylines are just being thrown in there randomly to see what sticks. Matt suddenly sleeping with his sister is just one example of this. And these outrageous plots aren't fun in the way that the Carver was, not when the writers put no effort into developing them. And Christian/Liz becoming an item NEVER made sense. However much Christian might have wanted a father for Wilbur, Liz was just not his type. And it was also very insulting to suggest that Liz would have some incredible experience with Christian and be attracted to men after all, what we saw of the sex scene was him rolling on top of her and thrusting a few times! They should have kept the original episode orders. Seasons 1-4 all had about 13-15 episodes, and are commonly considered the shows best. I think they really tripped up by having to create 22 episodes and split the season in half, the second half of this season ruins the overall feel as you can tell the writers are reaching for ideas to fill episodes.

MISPLACED PRIORITIES?
From Miami to L.A. where image is all, fortunes spent trying to arrest signs of age. Here are rich pickings for plastic surgeons Christian Troy and Sean Macnamara - once they settle and make themselves known....22 episodes, the season uneven. It is at its best when there is something of worth to say (bomb victim Rachel, still so positive despite permanent horrendous injuries; the plight of tiny children receiving cosmetic surgery to improve chances of appearing in adverts). It is also at times very funny indeed - as when poking fun at an OTT television medical soap, reality programmes, music videos.Unfortunately "Nip/Tuck" itself is not so far removed from "Hearts 'n' Scalpels", the show it ridicules. Storylines become increasingly preposterous (bosomy psychopaths a speciality - Sean implausibly falling for two of them and stalked by a third). Sex scenes abound - solely, one suspects, to fill up space and boost the ratings. Emphasis is very much on the shallow and the bizarre, the bulk of the characters dislikeable. It is good to see Roma Maffia as assistant Liz featured more prominently, but John Hensley as Matt is shamefully underused. Also wasted is seventeen year old "I am a genius" Raj, who lights up the screen every scene he is in. (His sudden departure is an unconvincing contrivance.) Making impact is Colleen (Sharon Gless of "Cagney and Lacey" & "Queer as Folk").It is true Christian, Sean and former wife Julia all face life-threatening situations, giving the show much needed substance. Self-indulgence seems rife, though, amongst the show's creators - too much too trivialized and, frankly, just silly. (As with a new surgeon discovered having sex with the furniture.) I have followed the series from the very start but feel "Nip/Tuck" itself now needs corrective surgery.

Still completely addictive
If you've watched all the other series then you really have to see Series 5. Is it as good? Probably not but when you have a series as good as Nip/Tuck (IMO) it's all just a degree of quality. I was completely addicted to this series, as all the others, and watched all 22 episodes over a few days. It's worth pointing out that it is actually two mini series in one with a crescendo and resolution of one story line and then the start and conclusion of a second plot line. The dialogue as ever is brilliant and I for one think that Julian McMahon has developed his character in an understated and under appreciated way. (As an aside, I think that if they ever remake Sunset Boulevard he would perfect in the Joe Gillis role.)

Best TV show i've seen
I think that moving them to another city for the 5th season was a great move, so much more oportunities. so far in the previous seasons there has been so much from birth to deaths, miracles to disasters and just so much more. I cant wait for this to be released. I hope that this TV show will run for a long time and keep the great cast it has at the moment. I could not fault the show in any way.

Great product on a great price
My girlfriend and I were crazy about nip/tuck and after we had seen the first four seasons, we purchased the fifth one. We live in denmark and we wanted to buy it cheap and with Danish subs. There were not any Danish subs, but we could satisfy ourselves with Norwegian haha. Though fast shipping, and when the package got delayed the seller asured me that it was on its way. Thanks
