Dave Nestler quit commercial art for the pin-up world and is clearly an artist on top of his game; the collection of drawings in this book are excellent examples of illustrative art, pin-up or otherwise. While photographic reference may have been employed, Nestler is no simple copyist; the intellegent exploitation of light, economy of line and subtle shading techniques make his works a masterclass in how to achive a fitting sensitivity to his subject - anyone who appreciates good drawing will profit by studying this book; aspiring pin-up artists need this book to see how high the bar is currently raised. Some gripes; a handful of images have been spread across two pages making it impossible to see the drawing properly without breaking the book spine - I do wish publishers would think about this. Also there is no indication of the dimensions of the original drawings. And volume 1 (I`m sorry I missed it) is out of print so no longer affordable - maybe the publisher will read this and OK another print run, or maybe pigs will fly! Grab this volume while you can.
