Jack Wattley's Handbook of Discus/H1070 Hardcover – Illustrated, January 1, 1985

I reviewed product before I opened package. That is how trusting and naive I am about purchasing dvds that are not supposed to malfunction like vhs,those BIG discs of whatever......yes the first disc of this most beloved Lost series has a flaw in it.....the first disc skips like a youngster playing hopscotch about halfway through. I had to clean up this review from what I was gonna say but I hope you get the ides. I haven't played it through...am in the process of and am unwilling to return it for another because in the past I returned those BIG discs to have the ones I got in refund were even worse clunkers....BUYER BEWARE....used to know that saying in latin also but I am growing old.

If you want a book written by one of the kings of the discus world, you want this book. It is exceptionally thorough and includes fabulous full-page photos, includeing a lot of excellent photos of differenttypes of discus. Another section describes what it is like to collectwild discus in the Amazon. Very interesting, readable book with lots of great information about this fabulous fish!

I'm sure this book was excellent in it's time but now it seems dated. There are much more beneficial titles out there for information on discus. I would recommend Perfectionist, or Discus Breeding for Beginners for more current information. If your looking for another book to round out your discus library go ahead and buy this book, but if your looking for up to date and helpful discus information go elsewhere.

Good Reading for Discus Keeper.

A book written by the first man to breed the famous brilliant turquoise discus (on the cover).Wattley tells how he went to Brazil to capture his first discus, and also explains how he took care and bred these fish.He gives his own recipe for discus food, which may be useful for those who want to prepare their discus food themselves.The Wattley's discus were exported to Germany and some of them were used to develop the famous Stendker discus.The book has a historical importance and is an interesting read for discus amateurs.

I wish I had this book years ago, the information is invaluable. It definitely should be reprinted again so people can gain some of Mr. Wattleys knowledge.
