Cool Vest Personal Cooling, 59 Degrees for 2.5 hours 8 Cool Packs, Recharge in 30 Minutes

I work in a manufacturing setting as a press operator and although my company has rented a 40 ton capacity air conditioning unit the production floor still gets so hot that it is evident that people are on the verge of heat prostration- you can see it by the red faces and stress as they move at a slower pace than usual. In my corner of the building the heat builds up so much on 90°F days that the press electrical cabinet sometimes fails in what is actually about 120°F to 125°F ambient temperatures. Last Friday I actually got sick from the heat and I decided to do something about it by ordering this cooling vest. I was especially impressed with the fact that the gel packs freeze at 59°F in 20 minutes if they are submerged in ice water. A fully re-charged set of gel packs do not feel like ice cubes but the cooling sensation is strong enough to weather the hottest and most humid conditions. It cools off your core effectively, allowing you to have a clear mind while moving at an aggressive pace throughout the shift. However, you must plan in advance how you will recharge your gel packs! You will want to change them out every 2 to 3 hours. I bring a Play- mate cooler with me to work stocked with big blocks of ice which I make using Rubbermaid containers in my downstairs freezer. It holds water bottles and my gel packs. On a brutal night working nine hour shifts this cooling vest will increase your productivity and comfort exponentially. I highly recommend it for anyone who is working in misery because of the heat! Consider it an investment in your health and both mental and physical power. The garment and gel packs are of excellent, top-notch quality.

I bought this on the recommendation of a friend and boy am I glad that I did. I bought this with work in mind, as I do a lot of work out side in various environments, and indeed it is great to throw on in the middle of a hot day after lunch. I feel way better and way more effective when Im not hella hot. What I didn't expect is how often I would reach for the vest on my off time. With all the random heat waves I find myself loading the icepacks and slipping the vest on to do chores around the house and when heading out for errands. Kinda feeling a little dystopian but this is a great tool for the possible future we are looking at. The other use that I did not for see is how I use it in my van. I have an old van that likes to get hot, and when it does I have to kill the AC. That's when the vest comes out and is basically keeping me comfortable and my dear ol van alive that much longer. I have a fridge in the van that I throw the packs in when they melt, and I can confirm that whatever tech/chemistry is happening there is amazing as the packs do indeed freeze above 32 degrees. The fact that the kit came with 2 sets of packs so you can rotate was a solid decision from Glacier Tek. Not going to lie, I feel much more at ease heading into an ultra drought west coast summer with this thing riding with me. Made in the US and rock solid stitching, can't really be anything but stoked.

2 year update -> after 2 years & life would be so much different without thisWe did do our Orlando June golf trip in 2021.5 days of 36 holes a day and vest worked EXACTLY how I hoped/thought it would. I bought a Yeti backpack cooler for the extra set of ice packs & swapped them out every hour. 8 to 10 hour days of not worrying about over heating and ending up in the emergency room (again). I use the mesh bag to hold the ice & place the cooling packets on the bottom of the cooler (got to keep them flat - covered with water & the mesh bag full of ice on top.Vest allows me to swing the golf clubs freely, so no restriction of movement. I now wear the vest anytime it is 90 or warmer for golf, bicycling, running, triathlons (not the swim section), mowing and just anytime I’m outside in 90+ degree weatherI bought this vest with an extra set of packs for our June 2020 Orlando guys golf trip (36 holes a day)Well, we had to cancel due to current situation, but I still use it several times a week while golfing/working out in the garage. It was 97 degrees & 60% humidity in my garage last weekend & it worked well for weight lifting with 75 second intervals between sets on a treadmill. My golf simulator is also in the garage & I run/walk on the treadmill between shots for the distance the shot went. I also use it for real golf and carry my extra packs in a cooler with 6 pounds of ice & 32 oz of water - if I need more ice, the golf courses have been very willing to refill with ice (as long as a buy something) at the turn.I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH - if you will be in the heat for more than an hour, get the extra packs and plan to take a cooler with ice/water to recharge the packs (always recharged fully if in ice/water - just plain ice will not charge them in an hour)I did get a rash from the Velcro rubbing on my arms during a round, but a longer sleeved polo fixed this issue
