SELECT Base - 12lb

Tiled a bathroom wall with it.I love this Grout. The first time I bought it I wasted 90 percent of it because the salesman told me I had to mix the whole bag at once. This is not the case, I decided to try something different.I bought another batch and mixed the color packet with 1.2 quarts of water which is 38.4 ounces. The packet of color weighed 3.6 ounces for a total of 42 ounces of color mix. Using a funnel, I poured the mix into a 2-liter pop bottle that I cleaned thoroughly. I set the bottle aside until I needed to mix some grout. The 12.5 lb bag of grout comes to 200 ounces. Dividing 42 by 200 gives 0.21 ounces of colored water per ounce of grout. If I decided to use 2 lbs of my grout I multiply 32 ounces by .21 and get 6.72 ounces of colored water. Using an accurate scale I would pour 6.7 ounces of colored water into a container and then pour 32 ounces of grout and mix. I done this over a period of several days and never did see a shade of difference in the grout color from start to finish. I chatted with the manufacture on-line to make sure this was OK. They said it was fine but make sure I use it within 6 months.NOTE:Make sure you shake the colored mix very well before each batch because the dye settles to the bottom of the bottle.

I used this grout on this complicated mosaic. Loved it. Cool colors and no sealing! Highly resilient in all weather. Recommend.

Wasted the first bag bc we mixed it all at once according to the directions. There’s a review in here at details that out better. It dried rly fast.

I wasted most of my first bag and only got about a third of the fireplace tile done. At first I thought I had mixed it incorrectly but I double checked and all was correct. It was literally hard set in the bucket in 45 minutes. The tile shop where I got the first bag didn't point out this feature. I found this out from another Amazon reviewer, jmb. Jmb also gave instructions on how to break it down into batches.

Have used product a few times now. I absolutely hate it. I've been a tile Setter for the last 20 years and this definitely screams b*******. Obviously this is intended for lowering inventory/overhead for the stores who carry it. They only need to inventory color packets (small boxes) and the non colored base mixture. Great for stores, not for installers. You have to mix up the entire bag at once so there is no ability for the customer to have extra on hand. The product sets up way to quickly, creating more labor in cleaning/ wipe down.I will also add this is an at your own risk product. as there is no warranties and cautions this on the bag
