Off Grid Tools Survival Axe Ultimate Outdoor Multitool-Hatchet Hammer Saw

Made in China with 420 steel. Comes dull, but easy to sharpen. Hachette dulls and nicks quickly. Handle is uncomfortable in bare hands, gloves are recommended. Interesting concept. Bought it too see if I liked the functionality... but it comes up short in usefulness.

I understand the difference in prices for the same model is domestic versus import; my in the import. Overall it works, claw for nail pull could be tapered thinner (almost 1/16in thick at edge), blade could be a touch sharper out of the box, sheath doesn't keep the pointed "finger" over the hammer head contained, that could endup ripping some fabric or skin later. Wish the saw blade holder didn't require disassembly in order to change or replace the saw blade; grip is decent and comfortable but on the large side. Overall a working jack of trades in a compact design.

I took this on a camping trip to put it through its paces and discovered it has some issues but is overall a great camp tool. I will have this in my pack for short trips from now on.The ax needed sharpening out of the box. I took a Dremmel and a whetstone to it for 5 minutes to make it sharp enough. Once sharp, it was able to handle chopping the logs I brought for the fire. It also worked well pulling nails out of the pallets I brought for firewood. The biggest issue I had was the handle is uncomfortable since there is a gap for the saw. It bit into my hand while chopping and the saw blade kept coming out. I would suggest a better locking mechanism and a more narrow slit for the saw blade and a block to prevent it from popping out.Pros: All in one tool. Durable for camp work.Cons: Handle is uncomfortable. Saw blade kept popping out when chopping that could be dangerous.

I am so very impressed with the quality of this survival axe as well as with it's ease of handling and it's multitude of features!With 31 listed features, hardened/resharpenable 420 grade stainless steel tang, durable glass reinforced nylon handle, and replaceable and locking 6" foldout blade, you just can not go wrong with this purchase.The weight is 1.5 lbs, length is 11.7", head width is 4.9", head thickness is 0.26", handle width is 2.2", and handle thickness is .86".

I got this for a bug out bag, to go along with other axes that I've bought for the same purpose (good to have more than just one bug out bag, or even a EDC bag). It seems to be very well built, can be used for any number of tasks as a Jack-of-all-trades implement. Sure there are other tools that might do a specific task better, but when there's limited space to utilize, this is a like a Swiss Army Knife for its compact profile. In addition, it comes with a pretty good protective sheath as well. Bottom line.....no complaints. A good investment

This is a great little tool out of the box, but a few simple improvements made it even better. First I used a course stone to get rid of the powder coat on the blade, then sharpened the blade. The handle was a bit too slippery, so I used a rasp to rough it up and give it some grip. As others have reported, the saw blade tries to pop open when you're using the axe to chop, so I added a few ranger bands to prevent that from happening. I also wrapped a bit of #18 bank line around the neck just because. Finally, the nylon sheath that came with this is beyond terrible, I tore it apart with my hands and made a functional one out of some scrap leather. I'm planning on upgrading the saw blade, it looks like the might be enough space to slide a spare blade into the handle, and it'd be super secure with all of those ranger bands. The smallest socket hole on the blade functions as a bit holder, but the bits just fall out, so I'm planning on gluing a tiny button magnet into the hole so the bits stay in. One issue I can't resolve is that the sharp edge of the hammer/claw is in the perfect place to cut up your wrist when you're trying to use the saw.Other than that it's perfect out of the box!

This isn't a bad multi tool. It's sturdy, has a nice heft too it and the various tools are generally useful. The biggest complaint I have with it is that the axe blade is pretty dull as shipped, I tried it out on a camping trip and was unable to hack through 3" diameter mesquite with it, I think some time with a sharpening stone could cure that. The saw blade is a good idea, but doesn't really work as well as you would hope. The rest of the tools are nice, and the balance is good, it's comfortable to hold and use.

Got 2 and will buy more. So many things you can do with this tool... I have them in my cars..
