Wanderers Orrery Solar System Model

Magnificent! Well constructed from the woodwork base, all the way to the polished stones representing the Sun and planets. I love they kept Pluto too, take THAT, Dr. Tyson! But if you like, all the mounting wires for the planets are removable for storage or to appease the Pluto haters in your life :P I especially love peering into the brass gears exposed under the glass dome, such a wonderful piece of clockwork and as much a part of the artistry as the rest of this piece. These are very clearly made with care and an eye for detail.

Beautifully built mechanical brass orrery is simply wonderful. My wife bought this for me for Christmas in 2018 and it has worked flawlessly since. Runs on a single D cell battery for about two months. It is delicate but solid once it is assembled properly. Not a toy or something that can be handled but a piece of art to watch. The planetary detail is precise as are the many moons clustered around the planets. The rings of Saturn are well done. And best of all it includes Pluto!

This is the most amazing birthday gift I have ever received! Not only is it beautiful, but it is also accurate (orbit ratios). The people who build these really take great care in their work & are very intelligent. They silence any grumblings by trolls about Pluto being included in this orrery through their website (orrery based on the original model of the solar system, hence the name Wanderer).Each orrery is handcrafted and therefore there will be variations from piece to piece, but the photos are true to quality.If you are torn deciding whether or not to purchase this, I highly recommend that you do. You will not regret it.

I gotta say, I bought one of these about 15 years ago from these folks in Boulder, and it is flat out gorgeous. the attractive stones and the brass and the visible gears and the correct orientation of the moons and the proper relative orbital speeds make this a fascinating conversation piece and a super keepsake. when I came across it here at amazon I just had to write a review for it. I really love it!

I bought one of these in Boulder from you around 13 years ago. Still love it. It is mesmerizing to watch.
