I use this for calibrating thermal probes, making sure things like NTC and RTCs are accurately sending the right data and whatnot. It seems to be accurate so far and the long stem is good for water tanks where the manual states during calibration the measuring device must be at the same depth of the device being calibrated.I also like how it looks, when you pull this out nobody is going to question the data

I like this thermometer. So far, about six months, it has proved to be: well-made (nothing getting loose, or falling apart, etc.), accurate (I always test against at least 3 known thermometers), and easy to use and store. No telling how long the battery will last, but the original is still going strong, and it looks easy to change out. I use it to check stove top water temperatures. (I have since bought a still-unopened back-up replacement, but probably will never have to use it.)

Pro: Don't have to be as careful with this as my (deceased) mercury thermometer.Very fast response in liquids, about 10 seconds to stable reading.Accurate, Ice bath: 32.0F, boiling water for pasta: 212.0F. Better than what I expected from the specs.Con: Tip almost too sensitive. Don't let it contact the container unless you want an idea of the container's temperature!I got this for measuring the temperature of rain gauges in the sun. The 12" stem was a requirement. The articulating head is nice, but causes some problems with balance when you want the display to point up. Perhaps the display would be better on top of the head instead of the front. Not a con, just something to work with.

I use this thermometer for processing color film so it needs to accurate. Color film needs to be withing 1/4 a degree F to maintain color balance. I tested the thermometer and it registered 32 degrees F in an ice bath and boiled water at 211.5 degrees F which is the correct temperature to boil water at my 246' above see level. In practical application when using the thermometer in my Jobo I am able to maintain a consistent temperature through my process and I find in accurate enough to get consistent results using Kodak Flexicolor chemistry. I am very happy with this thermometer and bought a second one with a shorter stem for use in my chemistry bottles.

Stopped working after a couple months. Very cheaply made. I was able to reconect a wire inside it to fix it. Buttons are cheap and temperamental. Definitely not worth what I paid.

This is a great addition to my homebrew equipment. I tested it right out of the box in boiling water and it quickly hit 212 F and stayed there just as you would expect. It only has 2 buttons on the face, on/off & C/F, making this is a very easy digital thermometer to use. The head swivels forward and backward making it easy to read. The instruction manual says the battery will last 5,000 hours so we'll see about that. If it doesn't, the battery compartment is easy to get to although I haven't opened it to try and change the battery yet. With a 5000 hour lifespan, I'll probably break it before having to change the battery.

I bought this to measure chemistry and water temperature in my darkroom, and it works great! Fast and accurate. Easy to use and read. Highly recommend.
