I have lots of video on portable hard drives and flash drives. This cable allows me to play that video via my Fire STICK.YES! - It works on the long, skinny FIRE STICK...NO - not the flat square Fire TV (have tested... does not work),DON'T KNOW - not the Fire Cube (untested),DON'T KNOW - not the Fire Recast (untested).Plug thIS cable into the FireStick and then plug the FireStick's power cord into this cable. The third spot on this cable is where you insert your Flash drive. I've used portable hard drives too.On the Fire Stick, get the app, VLC. It plays pretty much any video source you throw at it. There are other apps that play video too but it is my favorite.HOW TO USE:Put video on your flash drive.Get your Fire Stick working on your TV as usual.Plug your flash drive into this cable and wait a bit.You will see a message on your TV saying something about a USB device.Start the app, VLC.Go to the bottom of the VLC choices and click on the square box titled REFRESH.Give VLC a minute or so to look for video. It will take longer if there is lots of data.Use the VLC app to find the video you want to play and play it!I've used a 256 GB Sandisk flash drive filled with home movies and it works great. It is one of those little key chain flash drives that is USB-3 on one side and the common micro on the other. Very small. Very fast. Holds lots of footage to play on my Fire Stick via this little cord. I'm so happy.

Product should work fine, but I have not had an opportunity to fiddle with it. The original project has been tabled for now. Sorry.

Says this is specifically for using a thumb drive to expand the storage if the Amazon Fire stick. This did not work for me. Yes, I checked that the 16Gb thundering was formatted in FAT32 and the Fire stick doesn't recognize the expanded storage, not does any file explorer app I used.
