It does not matter if you are a martial artist, or someone who has watched kung fu movies and now wants to learn the nunchaku, this DVD will take you from novice to expert. It will that is if you practice what Thomas teaches.Paladin's studio was a great place to film this DVD. The camera angles, including an overhead cam, catch all of the movements Thomas illustrates. Slow motion photography ads to the DVD's instructional value and helps the viewer learn the speedy flashy moves. Thomas teaches the techniques clearly and in a manner that makes it easy to follow along and learn them with him.The 100 minute DVD is broken into the following chapters: Basic Swings, Spins, Figure 8's, Bounces, Sends, Catches, Passes, Rolls, Chain Catches, Hand Position Changes, Twirls, heavy Chux & Long Chain Chux, Double Chux & Chuk Flow and a short gag real concludes the program.One thing I liked about this program is that it focused on using the nunchaku for forms and demos. Thomas didn't try to sell the nunchaku as the ultimate self-defense weapon. Nunchaku are not something you are going to carry for self-defense. They are however something that you can have a lot of fun with, increase your hand speed and coordination with, and impress others with, especially those who marvel at martial art movies but have never trained themselves.This is a very good DVD to learn how to use the nunchaku. I recommend it to anyone that wants to learn or increase their proficiency with this martial art weapon. Practice along with Thomas and you too will be whipping chuks around through the basics and on to the advanced moves found in this instructional program.
