So lightweight and easy to maneuver!
This thing is insanely lightweight. My wife calls it a stroller lawnmower. Since it collects on the back it’s easy to get into and out of small spaces. They are sold out everywhere but if you can find a side grass chute instead of the bag it’s also nice. Battery lasts for my roughly 3/4 acre. Really the only issue I have with it is that it is so lightweight that I’ll forget sometimes not to lean into it too much or the front end lifts up. So happy not to have to deal with gas/oil, and engine problems… having to take a carburetor apart. Having a bulky loud smoke spewing monstrosity is no more!!!UPDATE 02/27/24: I was looking at my old reviews and wanted to give this review an update after having it for years. First off, I still have it and still use it as my main lawnmower and still love it. Secondly, a few things do need to be addressed. This comes with no side chute to spew the clippings, just a bag on the back which is TERRIBLE unless you have a yard the size of a bedroom. Almost every row I did it would fill up and need to be taken off to be dumped. When I got this a few years ago it took me about a month to find a side chute to order from Home Depot for $20, but dear god was it worth it! They might have them on Amazon now but they didn’t back then. Since putting it on I’ve never gone back to the tiny collection bag. Another somewhat issue which I’m not docking any stars for since I assumed this before even purchasing it from it being a small electric mower is it does not do great in thick spots. Too thick it cuts off, but usually it will just suddenly kick into high gear sounding like it’s about to take off into the sky. When I go into this denser area in my yard that is maybe 8ftx15ft and it goes into this high gear mode spinning at least twice as fast I just quickly go through this spot and it cuts it fast and clean. I don’t know if there are long term problems to staying in this mode but as soon as I’m done with that area I let off the handle and just restart it so it’s back to normal mode and to this day still do this and it works great. I have learned, however, that this high gear mode drains the battery hard! Save it for hard spots and do it fast. Being somewhat weak it also does fine going over little twigs but anything bigger than that will trigger high gear mode. This mower is perfect for me but take all of this into consideration before buying. One thing I really do wish for this mower was for it to be a few inches wider as it is very narrow. I got it on sale on here for $100 and it was money very well spent.

Absolutely perfect,exactly as advertised
I got because I'm a newly single mom with 3 young kids. This product caught my eye because I am terrified of loud noises (esp with kids playing I wouldn't be able to hear them) and got battery powered so I wouldn't have to pay for crazy gas prices either. Also I can't fix anything to save my life. The assembly and directions are super simple to follow (I can't even put together a table without it wobblying and had ZERO issue assembling solo). MAKE SURE TO CHARGE COMPLETELY FIRST AS DIRECTIONS SAY EVEN THOUGH IT COMES PARTIALLY CHARGED. It is light enough for me to carry one handed if need be (with grass container empty),it is not loud...i was able to clearly hear every "mom" command even with one bluetooth ear piece in . I accidentally went over a few rocks and sticks and they didn't fly crazy far so made me feel more secure in having the kids out while I did (of course try to avoid running stuff over lol) .I have a big yard...again suck at measurements so wasn't sure how far one charge will go. I am insanely impressed with how much I was able to do. It was easy to move along and go around trees and such. I will post an update in a few weeks as I'm sure I'll use a lot by then. I attached pics (markup in red is where I got done with a single charge...I focused on where kids play first I will do the rest on next charge) . I saw a review about catching on fire while charging....the directions clearly say DO NOT OVERCHARGE so I assume/hope that's what happened with that one. The charger plug in has a light that goes from red to green.Sidenote:my yard hadn't been mown in a long time and was crazy long...if keep up with mowing I'm sure battery would get even further then it already does

Not perfect, but decent. Good value for the price. Best for smaller lawns and early-morning mowing.
The biggest tip for using it: When it kicks into high speed mode, let it run fast for a few moments until it has cleared the heavy grass, then disengage the power button / bar, and quickly re-engage power. If you don't, it'll stay in high speed and drain the battery in just a few minutes. Disengaging then re-engaging puts the mower back in normal speed mode.Overall, it's a good mower, and a good deal for the price. It looks and feels like a toy, which has pros and cons. The body is made out of tough plastic. The mower is light and easy to push and maneuver. It's also really easy to just pick up and carry or reorient since it has a handle built into its top. But the cutting width is about 2/3 of a regular-sized mower, and it often needs a second pass over heavier grass, so it takes longer to mow with.It is very quiet compared to a regular gas mower, and can be used fairly early in the morning without bothering the neighbors. It's about as loud as a hair dryer and sounds a bit like one.The cutting height adjuster is badly designed and will easily slip into the lowest setting, causing the mower to scalp the lawn. After a full mowing season and a winter in an unheated Wisconsin garage, battery run time is still around 30 - 40 minutes. The mower has 3 speeds which it switches to automatically: normal, a little faster, and fast. When in fast mode, it can cut through just about any grass, but drains the battery very quickly. It will eventually drop back down to normal speed, but that can take a while and will drain the battery a lot. As mentioned above, quickly disengaging and re-engaging the power once it has cleared the heavy grass can help preserve the battery's charge and let you get the mowing job done.I use it on a generic suburban corner lot with a large front yard and small back yard, and it has enough charge to finish both yards if I don't dawdle and there isn't too much thick grass. I'd guess it takes around twice as long compared to using a self-propelled 21" gas mower, which isn't great but is good enough. If the lawns were any bigger, I'd need to get a larger mower.Recommended if you have a smaller lawn, want a mower that's easy to push and simple to use, and especially if you like getting the mowing done early in the morning.

First Impression
Worked for 23min on first mow. Worked for 7 min on second mow, after recharge. Stalled after 10 seconds on third attempt. In the process of replacing... I think the battery is faulty. The charger also, had a green light when the battery was completely discharged, until I moved the mower to a cooler location, a few minutes later. The mower, when it works is great!!! I hope to get the replacement soon and get a product that is more reliable. I'll comment after I get the replacement. I'm optimistic that the replacement will work as advertised.September 13th, 2018, replacement arrived.Worked for 23 minutes with battery to spare (under 30%). Did the back and front yard, minus a small strip. charged in under 4 hours, (5 hour is the charge limit for the XR models). Tried again to mow. Mowed in the morning for 10 minutes and the machine was strong and had over 60% charge left. I'm charging now for the next cut. I'm very satisfied on the quality and enjoy a pleasurable mowing experience. The only con, is having to carry the lawnmower around to an outlet to charge. The battery is part of the lawn mower. I guess this was to save money and the charger is a bit flimsy, but, I'm going to give it 5 stars for the overall level of satisfaction.October 5, 2019, The mower is getting better battery life!!!. I can mow the front and back in less than 30% charge used. The mower is powerful. It never stalled once, where even, our old gas mower stuttered - no joke. It is so light, that mowing is simple, no annoying gas fumes or electric cords falling out. Once you get use to this mower, you'll wonder why everyone doesn't have one. I think the first mower I received, had a bad charger. No problems for over a year now and the battery appears to be lasting longer (mower doesn't go full throttle unless it has to - and if you turn off and on, the mower slows rpms, again).

Sun Joe!
Wow, this thing lasts more than 30 minutes. I just did the first cut of the season and my grass had grown pretty tall, I was able to do both my front yard and backyard (medium size both) in 1 charge and the mower STILL had some juice left in it! I love how lightweight it is, the bag does fill up pretty quickly if your grass is tall, so I just ordered the side discharge attachement, do yourself a favor, if you are getting this mower, get the side discharge too! This mower is definitely high quality, easy to use, cuts the grass no problem, I did have the blade sharpened before the first cut, so it definitely makes a difference!

Light and effective! Shame about the electrics.
Functionally, this is great. It's light, easy to manoeuvre, and has low maintenance. My only qualms relate to the battery:1. The charger will not automatically stop charging when the battery is full (though it will indicate that it's charged). So it's likely that I'll over-charge and damage it, someday.2. The battery isn't removable, so charging it necessitates parking the whole mower near an outlet. It would be better if it worked like my cordless drill.3. The battery is not replaceable. When the battery degrades, you'll have to throw the whole mower out.Point 1 means that it will be hard to avoid misusing the battery. And therefore the battery might not last long. Point 3 means that when that happens, I'll have to replace the whole mower. Some of the battery related negative reviews here and on the US site might be because of lemons, or maybe the above scenario. But so far, I'm very pleased with this product. I have so far charged the battery once, before first use, as per instruction manual. I have mowed my 10x10 metre lawn maybe five times (I don't use the grass collection bag, FWIW), and it has been very pleasant. I now still have more than 30% of charge remaining. If the battery were replaceable, I would give this a five star rating based on my experiences, so far. I'm deducting one star because of point 3. And if I have significant battery charge issues within the first two years, I'll adjust my rating further.

Love it!!
I absolutely love this mower! Perfect for anyone so light and easy to maneuver. My only issue was the bag filled quickly however easy enough to take off and only use when necessary. Thank you Sun Joe
