Excellent spear. Very useful, in case of Zombie attack.

It goes into a dead tree very easily
Both of the spearheads were bent but that did not seem to change the performance of the spear . We threw the crap out of them and to my surprise they did not have any damage. Except the magnesium fire starter in the handle broke. Which is a bad place to install for storage if your going to be throwing a spear.

Schrade SCHSP3 an excellent and strong spear
It is a strong and well made spear and the spear head "flint stone pattern" design on the spear head give a primitive look to the spear (note this pattern is present on the SCHSP3 and not on the SCHSP 1). The blade steel is decent on this spear (I would have prefered carbon steel) but then again the stainless steel used on this spear is good enough for a tool that is intended to be used in the wilderness and that is prone to get rusted by the elements (in a spear the edge is not a primary issue since it is intended to pierce its target and is not intended primarily as a cutting tool like a knife). My only issue is the lenght of this polearm but that could be solved with the extension sold separately (that is my only issue and my reason to take one star off)

Not very sharp
This spear arrived dull, and due to being made of soft metal, was just about impossible to put an edge onto. The pseudo-flint finish on the head of the spear looked nice, but was cast in such as fashion as to prevent an edge to be properly ground onto the unit. This spearhead would be more functional if it were made from a better quality of metal, and benefit greatly if the flint finish was forgone in favor of a hollow ground spear head.

This will make good wall hanger or be great for recreational use but not for hunting. The spearhead is as dull as a butter knife. The shaft is a softer very flexible plastic that I would not trust hunting dangerous game with.

Great gift
This was a gift for my cousin and he loved it. The spear has a good weight to it. The spears blade is pretty nice looking with the chipped flint look.
