Guardian CV-032-M Violin and Mandolin Case

I have a light-weight Travelite case for my mandolin and a similarly light-weight case for my violin, which have served well for a long time, but sometimes it's just not convenient to have two separate cases, which is where this Guardian double case comes in very handy. It is heavier than either my mandolin case or my violin case but that's because it has a multi-ply wood arched top for great protection. The violin and mandolin fit very nicely without danger of hitting each other and I can wrap my shoulder rest in a thick piece of cloth and lay it between the violin body and mandolin head-stock and nothing gets damaged. The zippered compartment on the outside of the top of the case is huge and can hold spare strings and accessories and quite a lot of music or even a folding music stand! The small compartments inside the case can hold small items such as the violin rosin and some small accessories but the bigger things you want to carry with you will need to be in the top zippered compartment.The reason I only give it 4.5 stars (Amazon won't let me actually show that in the stars) is because of the placement of the bow holders on the inside of the cover and the place for the string tube -- it's crowded if you want to store the string tube where it belongs because it's right next to one of the bow-holders. But if you only have one violin bow it's no problem at all.I'm very glad that I found this case!

I just received the case. It is heavy, but considering why I bought it, to protect my mandolin and fiddle, I find that the case exceeds my expectations. I could likely find a lighter case for 3x the price of this case. The price was in line the amount of gigging and travel I will do. I carry a separate bag with strings, cables, pedals, etc., as I plug in and also play guitar and banjo, so this set up is perfect for my needs.

No mandolin I have would fit in this case and I have eight.

Just received mine today. Did not fit my custom Mando but I kinda expected that would happen. I spent a couple hours modifying it by trimmimg down the foam and re gluing the liner. No other options that I am aware of as far as buying one that would work outright. Seems sturdy enough. Fits fiddle well. Disappointed in the latching system. Hard to push down hard enough for it to catch the pins to lock it. Pretty sure it will fit in an overhead bin on a full sized airplane but looks to be tight for travel on a regional jet. Will know more tomorrow. Overall worth it but a few things like movable foam and better latch would be better.

Fits perfectly for pure acoustics. The Violin's headroom barely fits my electric with a little squeezing. A little more padding between the instruments and the bottom shell would be nice. The pockets in the top flap could be slightly bigger to fit a normal box of strings.

I've had this case a while, and probably due to it's Asian origin and cost, it doesn't hold up well. Almost immediately one of the staples that holds the metal clasp to the wood failed so that the clasp doesn't work. So the case now just is held together with the zippers. And it seems they sewed the accessory pouch on the top with the needle spacing too tight, so that the binding edge completely pulled away from the pouch material. Not came unsewn, just the material pulled apart. That is now held together with black duct tape. And the minimal amount of glue used to hold the spacing blocks between the instruments dried up and everything inside started moving around. I've had to re-glue several pieces. It's a great idea, but I'm about to go looking for a better made version.

One of the best musical purchases I've ever bought. Heavy, definitely heavy, but still way easier than hauling around several cases. Being the utility musician in the band, this makes 1 less case I need to drag around. I wish it would come with an instrument stand holder, but that will get added on.

Exactly what i was looking for. My F-Mandolin and Violin fit perfect. Since such case is not available in Germany i gave it a try and was very surprised. The packaging was poor, but received all safe and in good condition. Would definitely recommend this case.
