Great guide for an amateur!
After just starting out as a complete amateur astronomer, I have read through this book ready for next year. Its a great 'pocket' book, small enough to keep on you whilst out under the stars, but big enough to completely understand & get to grips with and bask in the wonder of our solar system and far beyond!I love the month by month calendar that show diagrams of what is readily available to see during that period of time & highlights deep dark space nebulae, constellations etc. Plus having a day to day image of the moon for each month will really help. It also highlights when we might expect to see meteor showers. For an amateur like myself, I highly recommend this as a starter guide. Maybe not so good for an intermediate as it does not highlight all messier objects etc. But a great guide book nonetheless & I will purchase this again for 2017 if my new found hobby lasts longer than a pair of skymaster binos!Clear Skies!

Wanted again
Was asked to buy this as a gift as the 2015 Guide was greatly enjoyed and used by the recipient (a mature gentleman) and his family last year, that has to be a good recommendation if it's wanted again. It is well laid out and gives the information wanted and is easily understood, Slipped into suitcase when going away so can check what is being looked at while sipping those drinks under the stars or peering out of the tent door.

A good pocket guide.
A useful pocket sized calender of 2016's Astro events. And it only costs about as much as a magazine. The book does explain what it is talking about for the beginner, but also provides data that an expert would find useful. The book has a good quality feel to it, although I am not sure how well it will take being opened up flat, the back is quite tight. The monthly Astro details include the phases of the moon. I am looking forward to using my copy through 2016.

A great book for space lovers
A great book for space lovers. Bought by my daughter (12) whom although a reluctant fiction reader, loves factual/informative books and this was no exception. With the book (read cover to cover) and recently purchased telescope = a very happy child indeed. Loves the month by month calendar giving diagrams of what is available to see during that period of time and keeps a regular check on the weather for the next clear night sky!

The pictures are colourful and clear and give a good indication of the night sky every month of the year. There is also a precise explanationof the possibilities one can see in the night sky without going into too much detail. A very good book for anyone interested in the celestialbodies in the universe.
