Well built but a little small
Appears well made and will do the job. I did not carefully read the size discription and just thought it would be much bigger. My fault. About the size of a semi-flattened 5 gal bucket. The lack of size will mean repeated refills and game spooking trips back to feeding/camera locations to keep full. With a 120 mile round trip to hunting property this is burdensome. Would like to see a model the size of a 25 gal barrel with 2 tree strap groves and a "rain shelf" over feed bin as protien pellets don't do well when wet! Gave 4 stars for size and need for repeated refilling. To be fair: Product is well made with a tight fitting lid. Will strap to trees with ease with cheap rachet straps. Unfortunately I can't use t-post as we have 300+ lb hogs who think it's fun to push over things that hold corn. They stand 36 +inches at the back so a t-post mounted out of reach would be top heavy and easy to push. No bears. Will see how they hold up thru off-season. If larger model comes out, I'm on it.Update, 05/01/15: After pratical use I am downgrading to 3 stars. Have had these feeders in the woods mounted to trees since December. Just took what's left of them them out. I have changed my mind about the larger model. Won't be using. The squirrels love chewing on the plastic bodies and lids to get the contents. Both of my lids are destroyed and the feeder bodies have holes in the bottmom and sides. I am in the process of patching them with sheet aluminum ( a total rebuild of the lids) and won't use them unless I can employ on t-posts (with squirrel guards) where no hogs are present. Roto-molded plastic a good idea but invites squirrel distruction. Suggest they try galvanized sheet metal similar gauge to A/C ducting/stove pipe. Sorry guys, but $100.00+ for tree rat entertainment not in my budget.

Plastic, but good quality, holds up to thirty pounds of corn without any problem
We have been having quite a few deer come to our backyard area where I have bird feeders, so I decided to purchase this feeder to put out corn for the deer. We have a mother and two fawns coming. The feeder is a Plastic design that is light weight. It has holes in the bottom portion to allow moisture to drain if any gets in and to allow some airflow so that there won't be any mold build up. There is a top that clips down over two plastic holders to keep out the moisture when it rains and keep some critters out. BUT, this is a poor design on the top feature, the clips don't provide a good hold. I eventually drilled a small hole through the brackets to allow the cotter pin to go through the lid as well as the brackets. This has kept the raccoon from opening the top.My only other dislike was the fact that the unit did not come with any straps to attach the feeder to a tree or post. I had to provide my own. Luckily I have some good straps in the barn so that wasn't a problem, but I would have thought they should have provided those as part of the product.Still, I like the unit and it is serving it's purpose quite well.

Mmmm Yummy, Plastic!
HAH! I don't know where you hunt but squirrels in Fla. will chew that thing up. If it's plastic and they can get to it, it's done. If it's metal it will last! ANYTHING plastic that isn't hung between 2 trees won't make it in the woods. PERIOD! Take your pick, Squirrels, Raccoons OR Bears? A bear will rip that thing off the tree and jump up and down on it till it's busted wide open. A squirrel will chew through it and live in feed heaven. Same with the coons. More so with the squirrels. I have tried the Wild Game hanging protein feeder and squirrels destroyed it. AND it was made out of plastic. I think that manufacturers have realized this and now are making more of there products out of plastic so they can sell more products knowing that the animals are going to chew the s*** out of what there selling. I like to refer to it as recurring revenue! lol

This feeder is a great design but is very thin and cheaply made
This feeder is a great design but is very thin and cheaply made. I was hoping for this price it would be a little stronger. It does look good and hides on the tree pretty good after i painted some camo on it. The hogs haven't got to it and the raccoons haven't been a problem either. Sorry, the picture is a little hazy.

Good feeder only possibly if mounted on TPost
Mounted to tree and the raccoons have taken lid off, hung from bottom and taken over. Good feeder only possibly if mounted on TPost. Used thru deer season. Will try TPost.

I feed year round to supplement deer (loss of natural habitat due to drought conditions and over abundance of hogs that have destroyed natural browse). The deer are still spooked of this feeder as expected of anything different in their environment, but it is definitely NOT raccoon proof. I have similar gravity feeders that deer have gotten used to and feed from regularly and I expect this feeder to be no different.

Was disappointed in the thin material it was made of
Was disappointed in the thin material it was made of. A squirrel could go thru it in no time. When it arrived one side had come unglued Also the lid was held in place by a small elastic string. Not worth the money for feeder and you still have to buy the t post attachment. Not what I was looking for
