It's kinda cheapish quality but it works for the price. I use it to hold a tiny projector.

Rugged, Stable, Compact and Professional Ball Head
We needed a compact head for our Pico Dolly that was able to hold a DSLR with all the fixin's and be able to be easily maneuvered without the knobs hitting the wheels of the dolly all the time. We have 2 video profession video production based businesses (Ultimate Survival Tips - Look us up online) and Ultimate Outdoor Media... so we had several other quality heads that we had tried... but they were too big and bulky for the dolly. Then we came across a review for this head and were impressed. I immediately ordered one to try from Amazon. I'm not easily impressed but I must say that all of us dudes in the studio love the little guy! We've used if several times in the past few days for dolly shots and it worked great, we have stable, smooth shots and NO broken cameras... YEAH!!!So...The head and plate are solid metal. The plate locks firmly in place with a quality knob and forgoes the sometime cumbersome safety lock mechanisms found of ball heads... but it does have a safety, which is simply two bolts that sit in a recessed sections of the plate mount on the fore and aft ends. They keep the plate from sliding out by accident. This is a safe, simple and uncluttered solution. Nice touch!!!The little bubble level seems to work fine... actually, better than most.Angle and rotation of the ball are locked using one, easy to handle knob on the base. The build of this guy is stout. I have NO fears of one of our $1,000 - $2,000 camera rigs doing a face plant on the concrete while shooting... at least not because of this ball head. And best of all, we have plenty of room to maneuver the head on the Pico Dolly without banging into the wheels or axle locks.I highly recommend this ball head for photographers and video dudes and dudettes needing a rugged, compact ball head to support a DSLR or smaller camcorder.

this tripod head can only be mounted on 1/4 inch ...
this tripod head can only be mounted on 1/4 inch screws, despite what other reviews may say. Mine has no adapter already installed, it is a solid milled piece of aluminum, there is no adapter for 3/8 and 1/4 inch. huge bummer, since 95 percent of tripods mount with 3/8 inch patterns.

The 1/4-20 adapter is NOT provided...
The product seems to be of good quality - however, I'm unable to actually use it, because the1/4-20 tripod "provided adapter" is NOT provided. I'll modify my review after I get the appropriate adapter, but for now, the description is false and the product can't be used.Depending on what it takes to get the appropriate adapter (e.g. whether I have to buy a dozen of them, or I'm able to get one from the seller for free), I'll update this review accordingly.Update: This ball head is a very good value and very well built, especially for the price. I've used it quite a bit and it's also holding up well.Just beware the above mentioned potential issue with the adapter, and order it in plenty of time to find one if you need it before you have to use it...In any event, it's certainly not going be usable for the upcoming trip I'd planned to take it on...

The perfect mount!
Awesome product! It is a great quality, metal piece with everything I could ask for to assist in shooting with my skater dolly I recently purchased. At first I thought I had to go out and buy an extra screw for this mount to fit with my camera and dolly since the connection screws looked bigger than my camera and dolly's screws; however, all I needed to do was detach the screw from the quick-release plate which revealed the correct sized screw for my camera and then I attached the remaining piece to the bottom of my dolly and all was well. The ball mount feature makes it possible to turn your camera 360 degrees around while attached to the dolly to find the perfect angle to shoot. This product is well worth the money.

Was my product missing things?
I retuned it because the socket did not receive a standard tripod screw. The socket was too small. Others mentioned an included adapter in their reviews. The one I received had no adapter, and the product was absent any instructions.

I bought this to use on a slider and Ive been very happy with it
This is a solid ball head and its very well made. The knobs used to tighten the various parts are also well made and lock everything down very well. I bought this to use on a slider and Ive been very happy with it. The quick release is also well made and sturdy. While you can get cheaper ball heads, this one is perfect in my opinion and the price was right. It also comes with a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter for mounting on a tripod or slider.

Sturdy, robust. Gets the job done.
Mine gets used on my slider rig. This ball head is small, discreet, and doesn't add too much weight to the rig. Some might not like the fact that both the pan and tilt are locked with the same knob, but I prefer cranking one knob over two, when it locks down. Though, I too agree it sucks when I lose all my leveling the moment I loosen the only locking knob.
