Lovely item
Bought this as a gift for my husband. He is absolutely delighted with it. It does take a bit of patience to set it up but it looks lovely and you have a choice of colours for the light. It is mesmerising and you could say I am over the moon!

Don’t buy it
Looks great at first, then a couple of weeks in it wouldn’t switch off unless at the plug, which makes it drop to the stand! Have messaged the company for advice etc, no response, have said I’d send it back but it wouldn’t be in original packaging, no response! A lot of money to spend on something which is out of action in a couple of weeks and then not a word back from the company! So don’t buy it, utterly hopeless, really disappointed!

Exactly what I wanted
The media could not be loaded. Exactly as I was expecting. Actually, It is even better in real life than in the picture. Just the exact amount of light for this space in my living room. Beautiful and relaxing, really sets a good mood.

instructions to help with use
EDIT: the lamp is now mine, it can be a little bit fiddly to get the hang of floating it, but it does work perfectly. The trick is to cup the mood in both hands about 2inches above the base whilst using the edge of both hands (while still cupping the moon) to hold the base to a flat surface to stop the cause flying up to the mood.Slowly move the moon side to side directly above the base (making sure the base is held down) and you will feel the moon catch! (You can feel it catch better when you cup the moon rather than holding it with your fingers)The instructions that came with it don't really explain how to make it work. A little QR to a video would have been helpful.Original review:We got this for someone as a gift. We did pre warn them it was hard to float. The person did confirm it was difficult to make it levitate. No idea if they got the hang of it. Looks lovely though

URGENT Fire Safety Notice
Do not buy! We are presently staying with family nearby due to my daughter’s room having had major fire damage. The fire investigators are still carrying out the investigation but it seems at first sight that the moon lamp was the initial source of the fire. Having noticed a few times that the base was hot on touch I never thought it would cause a fire like it did. Unable to post pictures of fire damage at present due to current location but I will once we are given the all clear. Stay Clear and Amazon get your house in order as you maybe getting a visitor soon along with the manufacturer.

Super customer service!
I got this as a birthday present for myself, and it arrived looking like the Post Office delivered it by drop-kicking it. As expected from the look of the box, it didn't work; it wouldn't levitate and the base got hot. So I contacted the manufacturer, and exchanged email with someone who actually read what I said and answered me, instead of the all-too-common case of them sending off a form letter only vaguely related to what I said. I sent them pictures of the smashed packaging, and they sent out a new moon lamp immediately. I'd have rather had it not show up broken, of course, but if I had to get a replacement, I'm glad it was from these folks. They take care of their customers. Their customer service would be worth a whole extra star if I could give it 6!Now, as to the lamp itself: It is really cool. If you've ever read H. Beam Piper's "Little Fuzzy," you'll remember that Victor Grego, the chief bad guy, has a levitating globe of the planet in his office. Well, I don't have an Earth (yet) but now I have a levitating moon on my desk! And it looks awesome. (why, yes, I'm a geek; how did you ever guess?)Setting it up is really easy. It only took me a few tries to get it centered on the magnets. It floats about half an inch in the air over the base and turns slowly. Yes, you can slide things under it to prove that it's really floating in the air. The light is powered by an inductive pickup, just like a wireless charger for your phone. You should note that the remote control only turns the light on and off; the base needs power at all time or the moon will come crashing down. I'd recommend, if you're going to be unplugging it, to first set the moon down gently. It's only plastic, after all -- PLA, I'm suspecting -- and banging it around is probably not good for it.That moon, by the way, is 3D printed (they must have a huge printer farm at the factory!), I believe from NASA data, and is extremely detailed. It's going to need regular dusting, because those craters are going to start developing their own regolith if I don't. You could put a glass dome from the craft store over it, of course.Levitating things have more or less of a whirring noise from the base because it's moving magnets around to make its item float. This particular one is remarkably quiet -- enough so that when I first plugged it in, I was concerned that it wasn't working. You can hear it in a quiet room if it's on your desk, but not in any sort of non-silent environment. The only negative I can find is that the "smooth" color setting actually makes the thing strobe! Be ready when you test it -- it startled me! And I do wish there was a good warm white setting; I'm mostly using the cool white. But oh, this is wonderful. Very enthusiastically recommended!
