Great range, immediate pairing, NOT a generic remote - made for my NIKON
This genuine Nikon Brand remote immediately paired with my Apple iPhone and iPad. It works perfectly so I don’t have to walk to the camera to start a video of myself or family photo sittings. It is SO much better than trying to use my phone as a remote control for my nice Nikon 6ii camera. It’s small and can be hidden completely in the hand for self videos so it’s not seen in the video. It has a great range, I use it at about 10 feet. It’s easy to use, and install. The buttons are immediate in all settings. You can zoom in via remote as well as stills. It’s WELL WORTH the price charged and I highly recommend it.

It works, but does not come with instructions
I decided to get a remote control for my Nikon Z7ii so I ordered the real Nikon ML-L7. It's a bit more than the knockoffs but had far higher ratings. I looked all over for it and found that Amazon's price was the cheapest as it included freight and I get e a s y returns when things go wrong. When it arrived, it was in a heavy cardboard box big enough for a pair of combat boots. Inside, a tiny 5" x 1" x 2" box was rattling around (no packing). Inside that box (without padding,) was the remote. Nope, no instructions. Nothing else. Not a word was printed on the inside box to say where to get instructions on how to program the camera to use it. So yes, I went to the web and quickly found the instructions (pretty good ones at that), which, in one web page, showed me how to pair it. It took a couple of tries, but it's working fine. I guess Nikon figures that a percentage of their customers are technical enough to figure it out (people like me), and others will (have to) go to the web--assuming they have access to the web. Functionally, it works fine. Remember to switch the camera to Video before pushing the red button on the remote. The zoom is not at all precise, so a single press really goes a long way. It can be programmed several ways and I intend to experiment with it in the field to see which is best for my needs. The real advantage to a remote like this is to trigger the shutter without touching the camera as when taking telephoto shots. Since my Z7ii has no mirror to bounce, the shots should be even steadier.

Works only with Coolpix.
I give 5 stars because I know it’s a good product. The only problem is that it’s recommended by Amazon to buy together with the Nikon D7500 what I had in my shopping-cart. Once received I couldn’t get it to work and started some research, it will only work with the Nikon Coolpix…. Happened the same with the suggested memory card, wrong advised. TIP: check suggested combinations for compatibility!

Great for tethered photography
The Nikon Z 30 I have has no software controls for zooming while tethering the camera to the computer. This remote solves that problem without me touching and shaking the camera. Recommended for Nikon users with compatible cameras.

Flimsy but Functional
Functional, with solid battery life. Disappointing build quality—feels flimsy and cheap, difficult to open battery compartment without damaging plastic latch. Lack of instructions and rather useless default options for the two function buttons. Fine if you just want a remote trigger, not impressive for anything else.

Stick with a brand name sometimes generics don't cut it for this
I don't know who actually manufactures or if it's all Nikon for this OEM but I certainly always go with the manufacturer branded components as alternatives may not be 100% perfect compatibility if you're looking for remotes for Nikon cameras

A recent opportunity has come up to go and visit a bird hide with both upper and lower spots to put my camera, but I didn’t fancy being on the floor to use the lower camera points. So, I’m going to use my portable monitor and have a comfy seat instead. This is a much more elegant solution than a cable release and is a perfect match for my Nikon Z30. I’ve read some reviews suggesting that it is complicated to use and that the instructions are all in languages other than English. I have found neither of those cases to be true. The remote connected immediately with the camera and the (comprehensive) instructions were very clear, including a table showing what any of the lights on the device meant. The remote is small in form factor, and comes well packaged in a Nikon box. I find that it is a good size, and that it operates fairly intuitive. There is even the ability to zoom in and out with it, which is a bit of a a novelty but it may be usable for you. The remote operates both video and stills perfectly well and doesn’t require line of sight of the camera as it is Bluetooth, not IR. So far, I have found this to be a typically Nikon product; it works well, gives you good functionality and is relatively expensive for what it is! Having said that, I’m a fan and am sure it will get plenty of use in my photographic journey. Recommended.
