Pete Souza throwin' shade! Love it!
Beautifully done book. Concept is awesome...tweets and excerpts from speeches from pres trump contrasted to a selection of Souza's photos from his days as Obama's official photographer in the White House. Wonderful and thought provoking. Also pretty sad as to how far down our leadership has gone in this country. Hopefully that will be getting better soon. Also, I will explain... this book is NOT printed incorrectly. In the previous review, it states that there are pages that contain errors. These "irregularities" are there for a purpose and are intentional. For those who need an explanation, here you go:1. Blank page on pg 26, contrasted to pg 27 "Valentine's Day". Blank page is there because there was no acknowledgement of Valentines day from trump to his wife!2. Pg 50 - many many, MANY tweets about many many things - in other words NOISE. This in contrast to a very thoughtful, contemplative Obama on pg 51.3. pg 52-53 - A collection of photos. On the bottom of pg 51 it states ' See more photos from the first 100 days"4. pg 54-55 - pg 54 is trumps tweet. pg 55 is Souza's comment about his contrasting photo of Obama, which is shown on pages 56 and 57.5. Pg 102. The excerpt on pg 102 is from trumps speech to the Boy Scouts, for gods sake! It is nonsense and NOISE. Contrast that to Souza's photo of Obama on pg 103. The point is you don't need to literally read every word of the speech! These are NOT printing errors. They are intentional choices.Kudos to Souza on this book and his photos. What a treasure!

THIS IS A MUST READ!
This book by Pete Souza is fantastic! "SHADE A Tale of Two Presidents". The photos in this book are of the highest quality. Yet, the stark differences between President Obama & President Trump is astonishing. Especially seeing the photos and remarks side by side. From the time Pres Trump labeled himself a ‘very stable genius’, "I surround myself with the best people", etc., etc. These statements turned out to be totally false. Please, remember that ALL of this can be verified. It's my hope that rather than folks choosing to become angry, look these things up. They are readily available online to anyone willing to take a moment to look. Let's remember that facts don't seem to matter to our President "Trump’s position is not that the facts will vindicate him. It’s that they don’t matter." This is a deep grief to all that love our nation. It causes one to pause & wonder what would have taken place if Former Presidents Bush (1), Bush (2) or Obama would have declared such things. Just take a look at the breakdown of how many people surrounding our POTUS are in legal trouble, prison or have been indicted. Not to mention the ones now being investigated. Plus, he's involved in an unprecedented number of lawsuits (brought by himself). Not to mention this: "Federal court approves $25 million Trump University settlement", "Trump Ordered to Pay $2 Million to Charities for Misuse of Foundation", on and on and on. What's taking place within our nation currently is a grief. Again, I want to say that this book is a "MUST READ", plus the photos are of highest quality.

Great book learned a lot about the photographer of the White House
Only thing I disliked about this book was that I didn’t read it sooner

Great photographer, great president
Pete Souza is a fabulous photographer, and I already own one of his books, so when this book was announced, I knew I had to have it. It may sound as if its purpose is to make fun of the 45th president, but that's not what happens between the covers at all. Yes, the photos of a caring, empathetic, stylish young man do not compare favorably with the incumbent, but there is no overt attempt to denigrate or find fault. What you do get is a book full of lovely photos of the 44th president and his family, and dogs, doing his job and living his life. And these photos are taken by a man who is immensely talented and connects with his subject. I have pored through it many times. Yes, it's a coffee table book, and I keep it there with Souza's "Obama: An Intimate Portrait," so guests can have a look through -- or not.

Remembering When Politics Was Boring
I love this book! I have followed Mr. Souza’s IG account since last year, but there’s just something more satisfying about flipping through the contrasts he highlights in the physical form of a book. There photos are of course perfect, and the typesetting is a beautiful addition to the touching and often comical content. The Obama WH was far from perfect, but this book serves as an ode to a simpler, more optimistic (and certainly less mean!) way of governing that we really didn’t appreciate nearly enough while we had it. I had never seen most of these photos much less known the story behind them since I was never interested in politics beyond voting in presidential elections every four years. It’s bittersweet to recognize how boring things used to be, with scandals like the breaching of the Chipotle sneeze guard (the horror!). So yeah, plenty to miss about those days. No time to be disinterested these days!

What a sly, wonderful, inspiring, enlightening book!
It did our hearts good to see Pete Souza's wonderful photos of our wonderful former President Obama and his family and colleagues, in contrast with President Trump's creepy tweets. It's humorous and touching to see the absurdity of Trump vs. dedication, intelligence and hard work of Barack Obama and his team. This book is an important contribution to the history of the Trump administration and the Obama administration--and includes an encouraging request by Souza to get involved to make sure we keep our democracy strong and functioning in the future, in light of the big hit it has taken under Trump. Souza is a super talented photographer, finding the telling moments that make great images. Our family LOVED this book.

Pictures
There are nice pictures in this book that made me smile 😊 and pause because I was at the Inauguration in all that freezing cold. The book would have been perfect if 45 wasn't in it. I wish it could have been contrasted with someone or something else.

ERSTE SAHNE ! ! ! - uneingeschränkte Kaufempfehlung !
Das Buch spielt ganz oben mit . . . . eben 1. Zum Begriff "throwing shade" zitiert er Merriam-Webster "a subtle, sneering expression of contempt for or disgust with someone - sometimes verbal, and sometimes not." Souza's Einleitung zum Buch endet mit: "With this book, I'm standing up and shouting out. I can't be subtle any longer."Genau dieses Versprechen erfüllt das Buch: auf der einen Seite Schlagzeilen über und Twitterergüsse von Herrn Trump - wechselnd zwischen dumm, arrogant, ignorant, bzw. einer Kombination aller 3 Eigenschaften . . . .

So easy to read even a Trump supporter could do it.
Got the book a couple of days back. Whilst it's a far easier read than "Fear" (well, duh!), it's pretty good and brings more than a chuckle at the marmalade Mussolini's expense. The contrast between a working president who understood politics, law & nuance and a golf playing pussy grabbing attention seeking whacko is starkly - and literally - black and white. Be nice if there's a followup sometime.

Contrasts
De Souza was the official photographer of the Obama administration. Interesting contrast of two Presidents.
