A Quality Timepiece!
This is another excellent offering by Stuhrling. Sturhrling has been quietly making strides in the lower price range for years and this watch is a great example of their philosophy. Anyway, the Stuhrling 'Prestige.' is devoted to their high end products, and these tend to possess 'Swiss' movements. Now, the term 'Swiss' is used rather loosely because many of the movements in these watches are essentially Chinese movements that were assembled in Switzerland in order to qualify them as 'Swiss' watches. Having said that, this watch is adorned with the 'Swiss Made' moniker because it meets the requirements set forth to make that claim. This is merely a digression, and the fact of the matter is that you can expect that this watch is a great watch made to a high standard and measures up to the highest industry standards in every measurable way.The packaging for this timepiece is simply over the top and you will not have any doubt regarding Stuhrling's intention to separate their Prestige line from the rest of their offerings. In fact, my wife joked that the box was the size of a shoe box, and I tend to agree as it's probably the largest packaging that I've seen on a watch, with the possible exception of some of the Invicta Diver watches that came in a simulated plastic SCUBA tank 2-3 years before. I found the watch to be very well-protected with a thick plastic ant-scratch material that took a minute or two to cut away from the watch. As for the watch itself, the case of the watch is a bit larger than some of the diver's watches but I would say it's not so big that it stands away from the crowd, and falls more in-line with newer models that are trending toward a larger dial surface area. The bezel is a bit stiff and difficult to turn, but turns smoothly, crisply and cleanly. The dial markers are very clear and striking against the orange dial face. The color of the hour and minute hands is the same as the dial markers, and reflect the color or the luminescent material with which they are coated. Speaking of luminescence, the lume on this watch is very good as it is one of the last watches to fade from view on my dresser late at night, so you won't be caught squinting to check the time when you're at the movie theater One notable feature that many older gentlemen may appreciate is that the numbers and letters on the day-date window are actually distinguishable without a magnifying window, and even if you are blind as a bat like me, it's still nice that you can get that information in a quick glance. The finish on the dial face is superb, as one may come to expect from such a fine timepiece. The case is a brushed stainless steel, well-finished and contains no rough edges. All numbers align OK with the window on the dial, with only the slightest off-center orientation. As for the band, it is super sturdy and thick, which one could expect from a good diver's watch. There is no play in the attachment points for the band to the case, and the clasp is nice and beefy, as you might expect to see on a higher end model. I might add that the entire band appears to be free of thin, cheap stamped steel, which you will find on many other watches in this price range. In other words, Stuhrling didn't cut any corners with the band, which is often the case with Seiko and other well-known manufacturers in this price range. The weight and feel of this watch is substantial, which may be good or bad, depending upon whether you like a beefy watch. The edges of the links have been polished and are free of sharp edges. The double closure and release buttons function well from the factory, and open neither easily or stubbornly. As my diving days are long gone, I honestly cannot vouch for Stuhrling's claimed depth rating, and would put absolutely no faith in their claim of 200 meters as there is no screw-down crown. It's a sad thing to see these watch companies making such claims when in fact, some of these watches would take on water faster than the Titanic while washing dishes in the kitchen sink, but I think this watch would do well under light duty, such as getting caught out in the rain or in the shower. If you want a dive watch, get a Seiko Monster, Deep Blue,.Casio G-shock or something along those lines. In summary, this is a great watch and if it were offered for double the price I paid for it, it would still be an excellent buy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this watch to anyone looking for a great watch for less than $200. If Stuhrling is looking to go upscale in their line, this watch is a step in the right direction.

Pretty much what you'd expect from something "Swiss Made"
Nice watch!!! Good weight and excellent looking quality. Nice addition to my collection, can't wait to see how it holds up when I switch it up with my Super Ocean and Victorinox Swiss Army time pieces. Pretty much what you'd expect from something "Swiss Made".
