I only wished that this book delved more deeply into how to completely restore old bikes.

Good investment
Clear and simple descriptions, detailed photos and diagrams, well organized and nothing extra. I keep this handy to help with maintenance and repairs, but sometimes I'll read it for fun! Good investment.

My husband has already used this book twice. He isn't trying to do anything major with his bike but to change his own flat etc.

Best for the novice or intermediate interested in Bike repair and maintenance!
This is the best general bike repair manual out there. Park tool Blue Book and Leanard Zinn's books are very in depth and you need them when you need them, but not often and generally don't illustrate what is being done as well as this small, colourful volume! I had the first edition with the clear plastic slip cover. My son lost it and I bought this latest edition to replace it. As good as the five star original plus all the new 11 spd, internal wiring/cables and di2 . Fits in my tool bag and is printed on grime resistant paper. Good for everything up to the most infrequent and involved repairs. They don't get much into wheel building for instance.Loved the first one, love this one more , just wish it still came with the clear plastic cover protector.

Good overview book but lacks enough detail to lead first timers through a task
This book is a great "Readers Digest" book with a broad introduction to bike maintenance. Nicely produced on glossy paper with lots of colour photos, etc. But it lacks detailed step by step instructions and technical illustrations to lead a beginner many tasks for the first time. The instructions for some tasks are imprecise and rely too much on wording like "remember to thread the left hand dodad" without an illustration to show the beginner exactly what the left hand dodad is. I much prefer a detailed manual with line drawings by a technical illustrator to learn how to do something. I bought this book so when I was I working on my bikes I would not have to pause to re-run one of the excellent how-to videos from Park Tools on the Internet. I've found I still have to!
