OutNowTech Vantage Folding Pocket Knife - Multi-Purpose One-Handed Easy Open Survival Knife for Hikers & Campers, with Magnesium Fire Starter, Belt Cutter & LED Light

The reason I bought my first knife was for "in case of emergency" and I went looking for “survival knife in mind”. I went for the OutNow Tech multipurpose folding knife that had tons of good reviews and seem fairly priced at about 25 bucks. This knife left me with the impression that you get what you pay for. If I had to use this knife in an emergency I’d which I spend more on a survival knife. It’s hard to open with one hand, the steel on the blade it’s not that good and it’s not sharp out of the box. The black paint on the handle becomes slippery when your hands start getting a bit sweaty or oily from body oils on your hand. If you want something that leaves you with a much better impression try CRKT knifes like the CRKT M21-14SF which is about 69 bucks (at the time of this review but I paid 75) or the more affordable CRKT M21 14SFG (52 bucks thru Amazon) with a different texture on the handle. They are sharp out of the box and made with blades of quality steel. You will not be disappointed.

I had bought Blize Tech knives for my husband and sons-in-law for Christmas. I bought this one (less expensive) for our Hurricane Kit. It feels sturdy, looks very nice except for several small scratches on the handle. (Kind of made me wonder if this was a returned item that was re-sold?). Had to jiggle the blade guard to make it work properly (shouldn't have to 'jiggle' something to make it work correctly). Although the guard does seem to be working correctly now. I was very surprised that there was absolutely no instructions of package inserts explaining the features of the knife, though the label on the plastic bag it came in referred you to a website (that's fine if you are in a situation where you have web access).So it looks like it will be an effective knife, but I think if I decide to order another I'd go back to the BlizeTech.

The pricetag on this was really good and I had recently misplaced one multipurpose knife, so I purchased this one based on the reviews. The one I received had a loose fitting Magnesium starter which fell out when turned upside down. The knife portion is excellent. At this point I would have given it a 2 stars. However, I received an email from the manufacturer asking how I like the knife. I called and explained what happened and they mailed me a replacement that works fine and an additional magnesium starter. Customer service gets 5 stars and saved the day. An email and a phone number and immediate response.

I LOVE this knife.However, I hate the flashlight. It's always wiggling in its holder. Feels cheap. And because it twists to turn on in the direction it twists to tighten, I either have to keep it loose or keep the paper inside until a true emergency arises, but that's not, in all honesty, very likely going to happen. It'd be nice to be able to use it whenever I want without worrying about it ending up dead in a few days from accidentally being used up while in my pocket.I do love how quickly it springs out. And it is SHARP! Cuts very well. Feels tough and sturdy.Bottle opener works fine. Belt cutter cut through some cables for me real good. Haven't tested window breaker yet, lol.edit:Lost that stupid flashlight, never even used it!! >_<

Exactly as described. You must read the instructions they send you and it works perfectly. I see that there are some negative reviews from people that I guarantee didn't read the instructions. The led torch worked as soon as you take the protective disk out. I put mine back in to stop any accidental battery drainage until I need to have a small emergency light. The lowest serration of the blade is perfect for removing the protective coating from the fire starter and the blade sharpens very well. I sharpened it on a course stone, then fine then honed it on steel. It is razor sharp. I haven't tested how long it keeps the edge, but it sharpened quickly so I assume it will sharpen easily an any store bought ceramic or steel sharpener for the average use. And for the price, you cannot beat it. I will buy more in the future for my different bags and kits.

First knife I received had some issues so I contacted seller and within 3 days they shipped me a replacement with no issues. I must say the customer service with Netspan Retail could not have been better. I will be doing business with them in the future. As far as the product itself, it is a well made knife, very sharp and attractive looking and has a tiny but very powerful flashlight included. I am very satisfied with this purchase....

Well made and good quality. It has several useful functions in a small and balanced package. The fire starter works great! The led light is also useful and does the job in an emergency. Bottle opener also functions very well... but perhaps even more research is needed on that one ;-). lolOpening the blade is a little stiff at first; but, nothing that a drop or two of high quality oil makes for decent opening. The locking mechanism is solid. The more you open/close the blade the easier it gets as well as you getting used to the feel. All the parts are well thought out. The led stays in place by magnet and the fire starter clicks into place nicely. Overall, an excellent purchase.

Little hard to open; light doesn't work. other than that, it's ok.UPDATE;Company reached out to me after my review, and sent me a new light that works fine. Even though it is a bit hard to open still, I'm giving it 5 of 5 for their dedication to customer satisfaction. Quality is good, not flimsy or "cheap" feeling. If the rest of this companies products follow suit, I'd have no problem in purchasing from them again!
