A fun way to study history
I really enjoyed this book. It takes the reader on an historic journey from the Kahiki's inception to its closing. It's chock full of history and wonderful stories as well as great pictures. Sadly, I never got to visit the Kahiki when I moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1999. This book is the closest thing to a time machine. I enjoyed reading about the tiki fad and it's influence on popular culture as well as other unique restaurants started by Lee Henry and Bill Sapp.

Love learning about the history
Quick, informative read. I regret never having the opportunity to have seen the Kahiki in person. While this is aimed toward fans of tiki, there's a lot of interesting historical info for those who are from Ohio. Great images, and now I understand the "why" behind the reason it was torn down.

Loved it!
I remember the Kahiki from it's beginnings - it was THE place to go for a long, long time. This book is a great read for anyone who remembers it as it was in it's heyday.

A really interesting and fun book about a once iconic and wonderful place
A really interesting and fun book about a once iconic and wonderful place. Though I was a bit young and at the time missed the tiki trend in the 50s and early 60s, this helps bring it back to life. That it was located in that great, tropical and near paradise of Columbus, Ohio just goes to show how big the Tiki craze was back in the day!Buy the book, make yourself a Zombie and take a trip back in time!Enjoy!

Return to paradise
Finally, the long awaited history of the Kahiki Supper Club. As a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio, I can certainly attest the authors have returned to us our beloved Polynesian restaurant. The book provides plenty of detail; the concept of Kahiki, behind the scenes information, rare photos & diagrams. The authors provide a balanced perspective; waxing nostalgic and not holding back when there was trouble in paradise. In all, this is a book you will want to share as it reads like good friend telling a story you wouldn’t mind hearing a few times over.

Magical ride to Columbus
Even though I didn't grow up in Columbus, OH or even set foot in the place...I enjoyed this loving tribute to an iconic Tiki palace. I feel like I know the Kahiki, due to the excellent writings of the the authors, the many great photos, and so many memories shared. I especially love the section on Kahiki food and drinks...real recipes from the day. Every classic Tiki joint needs a book this good!!

Pretty Good
An excellent overview and detailed study of the old Kahiki Supper Club in Columbus. I've been there a few times and loved it and this book reminded me why I enjoyed the place so much. Many interesting details and behind-the-scenes anecdotes as well. It even includes a small (very small) reproduction of the lay-out and architectural plan. Very enjoyable.
