Wood Bending Made Simple (Made Simple (Taunton Press))

A very helpful book throughout, it's been a few years since I have done steam bending so got this book to help me. Surprisingly it really helpful on design of steam box, jigs and advise. Highly recommend to people who want to get into steam bending.

I had tried beding wood afew times with limited success despite having followed instructions from a number of other books, but this one explains what to do and why. I followed this books instructions and had total success. It is written very clearly with no waffle, the DVD is very helpful. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to bend wood without to much waste from failed attempts.

Bought as a gift. Recipient found this very useful when learning the craft.

Very good book the DVD is also very informative .

I purchased this title with the hopes of being able to use it with my students in my Aircraft Woodworking classes I teach in Central Virginia. I have purchased no less than three other titles over the months, and was disappointed with what was out there, available on the complex subject of wood bending. Mr. Schleining's book, cover the subject thoroughly and with excellent photographic depictions of his suggested techniques. Several of the other titles just show sketches of how wood is supposed to be bent, but when you try these techniques, they do not work well. Or they show massive commercial machines used to make commercial furniture. Not something I am interested in. One of the most valuable aspects of the title is that the author shows steps that do not work and then he explains why the wood failed. This is really, well done. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning how to steam/cold bend wood successfully.John GaertnerBSA, LLCKeswick, VA

Das Buch versteht sich eher als eine Einführung, doch geht es schon sehr gut ins Detail. Es ist durchgehend in Farbe gehalten und auf gutem Papier gedruckt. Die DVD ist gut gemacht und funktioniert in neueren Playern sicher auch, obwohl sie im NTSC-Format vorliegt. Für 20 Euro ist das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis wirklich einmalig.Es wird das Biegen von Laminaten, Dampfbiegen und auch das Biegen mit Hitze (nur ganz kurz, aber immerhin) erklärt. Ein großer Schwerpunkt wurde auch auf Formenbau und Vorbereitung gelegt.

This book gives you more then you might expect on this subject. It shows you with quite a few good pictures and lots of well writen text. The subject is not hard but you need to learn b4 you start many things and have it all ready. The book tells you how to be prepared and with what tools.

Lots of pictures and easy to understand and for the money a good book to have for shop reference!

I definitely recommend this book for wood bending (especially for beginners who have no previous idea of the technique).The book is detailed and illustrated with good pictures. The author explains the methods used, including the advantages and disadvantages of every procedure.The book is supported with a CD, which is very effective and will help you build your own wood working project as if you had a guide besides you.
