This is the most comprehensive collection of pictures and artwork of Elvira Mistress of the Dark that has ever been put together, so even if you think you've seen it all this book offers plenty more that you definitely won't have. Not so much a biography (that book's coming next!) but more Elvira's life in pictures, although there are a few descriptive words to accompany each collection of images so you know what you're looking at.There are so many amazing pictures in this book, I could happily order a second copy to cut them out and frame them. Amongst the most insightful are the photo-shoot out-takes. It's easy to forget that a world existed before Photoshop, where they literally had to take hundreds of photos to get that one perfect one, and all the 'special effects' existed for real.This is a huge and heavy book, with 240 pages weighing in at over 2Kg, so the price is entirely justifiable. A must-have buy for any Elvira fan.

A wonderful, big book full of fantastic photos of the queen of Halloween. A must buy for every Elvira Mistress of the Dark fan. I've been waiting a long time for this book to be released here in the UK and now it finally has been. So Happy!

(I’ll start by saying that the book arrived with the cover slightly damaged on the bottom which I was miffed about considering how much I payed for the book; however, that’s not Cassandra Peterson’s fault so I didn’t deduct any stars from my rating)This “coffin table” book is pure delight that any Elvira fan would be pleased to have in their home. Photos in this book are hand-picked by Cassandra, herself, and displayed in four separate sections: Movie Macabre, Elvira’s Double Features, Calendar Ghoul, and The Queen of Halloween. Each photo is large (most take up a whole page or two pages), colorful, and beautifully printed.While the book is primarily photos, there are humorous little annotations scattered throughout which were written by Cassandra which recall her personal experiences and in the moment of the photograph being taken, or stories surrounding a photograph from that time in her life. Some of these photos are never before seen. Many sketches and concept art prints are also included in this book. It was a delight to see some of these ideas later brought to life in performances, films, or photographs.The way this book was written gives one the sense of sitting on the couch with Cassandra, paging though one of her photo albums as one would do with a visiting relative. This book was pure delight and I sat and read through it in one sitting: Couldn’t put it down. It’s worth every penny, so if you live Elvira just buy the darn thing.Unpleasant Dreams, and happy reading!
