I have been collecting Astrud Gilberto music since 1965 (vinyl LPs) and wanted the set just for nostalgia and keepsake, Her voice is unique and has some captivating character. I first saw and heard Astrud singing in the movie "Jazz Set" in 1963, unfortunately the movie never got reproduced on DVD. That was my first introduction to the Bossa Nova rhythm and the rest is history. The set of 5 Original Albums contains some of her recordings after her initial hit "The Girl From Ipanema". The album "A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness" introduced Walter Wanderley and not forgetting Joao Gilberto into the jazz Bossa Nova scene adding the "spice" needed to the music and rhythm for over 50 years. The set may be duplicates of the music on the Vinyls and CDs, but now you have them all in a unique collection for listening pleasure with nostalgic memories.

Looks like the CD stampings were poorly made.

Have been a fan of Gilberto since the sixties.

Nachdem ich unlängst die Stilrichtung Latin Jazz für mich entdeckt habe, stieß ich über den Umweg Stan Getz auf Astrud Gilberto. Zunächst war ich skeptisch, und erwartete bei dem Preis für 5 CDs mit Aufnahmen aus den 60-er Jahren muffigen Mono-Sound... wurde aber angenehm überrascht. Die Musik ist sowieso über alle Zweifel erhaben, Kopfhörer auf, und mit einem Longdrink auf den Balkon gesetzt... es gibt nichts Besseres nach einem langen Arbeitstag...
