Q: Can anyone tell me the distance between the hook and the pole. Looking for one with enough distance to hand a wind spinner. Thank you

The distance between the hook and the pole is 9" (229mm)

Q: Does this have a base or just sticks in the ground?

It just sticks into the ground/soil. 'Very pretty it is too ~ we have it tucked near a tree with a large fat-ball feeder on it; it suits as we live in a Victorian property. It survives the weather well, too.

Q: How do you fix the two poles together, they have only sent an alan key.

Slide the two parts together and tighten the screw in the middle with the alan key. It has held it's ground in all the recent storms.

Q: Should I put the prong into the ground and have the actual crook hook facing in same direction?

I have mine at a 45 degree angle and it seems ok I have a Brampton hanging bird house attached to the crook The prong is pushed firmly into the ground
