Simple and effective
This is very basic and yet effective way to deter anyone who breaks in. The noise is unbearable. Once armed it gives you enough time to exit(45 sec.) and plenty of time to disarm it when you get back home(30 sec.). Make sure of two things:1. Mount it somewhere really high that can't be reached by perpetrators2. Hide the remote in a place that you and the other family members know it, so you can have it handy.

easy to set up and works as advertised
I installed this as a backup alarm for one of my doors cuz I've had problems with the existing sensor. Not working. Works great. Has a really loud piercing tone

Mostly works - good for the price
For the price these work fairly well and give a little feeling of low hassle portable security. I use them indoors in Florida. I hv noticed when the ac is off their performance degrades a lot. Where they sensed at 15 ft away in cooled air, will only sense within 5 ft in hotter air

A "GE Smart Home" product Dissapointment
I have other GE Smart Home products and am impressed with the function and quality of those products. Because those items work so well, I was expecting similar function with this unit. In the end, I was a bit dissapointed. It works OK, but I don't think you can count on it 100%. You can sneak past it if you move slow. The motion sensor also seems to be easily confused when sensing motion. I'm not sure what confuses it. It could be any of the following: walls that are painted white, heat, fans blowing, AC, any bright light [sun or electric], etc. The remote is IR rather than RF technology. That means "line of site" transmitting. You MUST be facing the front of the Alarm and it does not work well if the alarm is sitting on a table, etc. It works best mounted to the wall where the IR sensor will be unobstructed. If I had a chance to try it before I bought it, would I still have bought it? Probably not and I'm glad that I only bought one. Still it is about worth $22-$23 [including shipping]. I wouldn't pay more.I think the "Driveway Patrol" type alarms [sold at Amazon] are more practicle and reliable for indoor use. Of course, with that product it's "transmitt channel" can be an issue if more than one operate in the same area. The transmitt channels are fixed/ non-adjustable. So, if you want to use two and want to know which one is going off [say front vs. back door] you may not be able to do that. It would be more like an alert telling you that "one of the units is sensing some sort of movement". That is why I think they are best used indoors as well. Wind can cause many false alarms from items or trees moving around outside. If you only need a door chime, I think this style item [driveway patrol] is a better choice. It has a seperate sensor that you can easily place/ relocate and a base with the chime in it. You can place the base where you want, choose Hi-Lo chime volume, and turn it off as well. It's also about half the cost. Both items have pro's and con's. You have to choose what is best for you. As I mentioned earlier, I find the "Driveway Patrol" style more useful. What impresses me most are the numerous choices and feedback you can check out at Amazon before making your choice. I find these reviews help a lot.

Great security device when it works
This is an outstanding 120 decibel security alarm. The handheld remote makes it very easy to use. It has a great range. CONS: Cannot adjust the 30-second interval between the alarm being tripped and when it goes off. I use it in a tool shed and cannot hear it in the house. It would certainly scare an intruder. I also have to set a motion detector with a remote sensor inside the house. Two of the first three I purchased are working great. The third one quit working. I have just replaced it twice this past month. Neither of the two replacements are working. I can no longer recommend this unit.

Works Very Well
I have used this model for years and it works well. It has good range and works to detect movement as expected. The alarm and remote typically lasts for two or three years before the plastic components fall apart, especially outdoors in my unheated garage or barn (I use it in both). Failure typically involves the plastic covering over the remote control buttons falling apart. For the money, this alarm is still my go to device.

Great warning device for price
This device is VERY ear piercing loud. If you use indoors be prepared. I used this for my patio back door inside my home. Works as intended. Was easy to install and alarm remote works from at least 20 feet away from the device while directly aiming at it.Down side, the amount of batteries it takes and there's no way to lower the volume.Overall-Still worth it and that sound will definitely scare anyone not belonging on your property off and get your attention and that of your neighbors. Totally recommend

Product not for immediate security alarm when motion detected
Beware...the posts from users indicating you can remove the 30 sec delay for an immediate alarm via the panic feature are missing an important consideration for many users. Many will wish to use product to sound an immediate siren should it detect motion, so when homeowner is asleep, in another room, etc. The systems will only sound an alarm after 30 seconds , regardless of what people are saying about the user manual. It does not allow this and you can read the instructions carefully and come to the same conclusion. This operates as many describe....a lower, audible chime (but not alarm) when motion first detected any only after 30 -45 second does any actual alarm sound. This gives an intruder tine to disarm the device before you'd even awake or hear it. The option people reference for immediate alarm is an all together different feature or use. It allows you to push two buttons at once on keychain to set off alarm.... Referred to as the panic feature. The likelihood someone would see an intruder in their home and have the keychain on them, to be able to activate the alarm... That's seems like a remote use case. Far more standard that people asleep, watching TV, or other part of house want an immediate alarm should someone enter. Disappointed I bought this based on the incorrect reviews on this site about its capability. Looks like it's back to the drawing board. And agree with others, device is quite cheap and does miss some movement, even directly in front of it in lit room and has had a false alarm as well... quiet room, no pets, trees, movement of any type.
