Game Changer! Book Access for All Kids

I felt like I could have highlighted the whole book!
I could have read this in one sitting! It is a must read for any literacy coach as well as any classroom teacher who isn't sure they have time for read alouds, independent reading time, book choice, library visits, etc. It is for anyone who isn't sure they are building a classroom of students who love reading and see themselves as avid readers. It is full of specific and practical advice that you will be able to easily implement and share with co-workers. The authors cite research to back up every suggestion they make. If you want your students to learn to love reading and to build strong literacy skills they must have access to lots of books as well as time and encouragement to read them. This is the key! But, there is so much more to this book. I promise!

Informative for Literacy in Education
As a kindergarten teacher, I got this book hoping to learn more about the "summer slide". Not only did this book have a ton of evidence, it had great resources that I can use in my classroom. It also has inspired me to change some things in my classroom and become more involved in a literacy rich community. A lot of the information was stuff I had recently learned in a PD, but so much was useful for me RIGHT NOW!

The importance of classroom libraries!
I am an instructional coach and this book was suggested to me by a colleague. At first, I felt some of the advice was obvious, such as the need for funding of classroom libraries. However, there are great ideas for promoting a reading culture within your school community such as starting a free book swap. I appreciated the suggested lists for increasing diverse books within the classroom library and the research around why diverse literature is important for students.

So simple, yet so needed!!!
If you are a public school administrator under pressure to improve test scores, this book is for you. If you are wondering how to foster literacy skills at your school, this book is for you. If you are a book loving teacher who is frustrated with overwhelming pressure to teach the test, this book is for you. Buy it, read it, use the research, and change your world.

Great for librarians
I really feel like this book is written more for librarians and not really for teachers.

A must read
This should be a required reading for school administration. Librarians are being cut across the country, when really they are leaders of engaging literacy. So very important for ALL STUDENTS to have access to books !

Spread the love of reading!
Perfect for classroom teachers and administration. School librarians will find a lot of it review but there are still some things to learn from it.

Do not purchase this on Kindle
Very disappointed by the kindle version of this book. You can not increase font size, bookmark, highlight or use any features. I am unsure if this is an Amazon or Scholastic issue, but disappointed.
